On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
On CD:-
Jackie Mclean - Capuchin Swing
Recorded in 1960.
- Alto Saxophone – Jackie McLean
- Bass – Paul Chambers (3)
- Drums – Art Taylor
- Piano – Walter Bishop, Jr.
- Trumpet – Blue Mitchell
on CD. One of his earlier efforts and definately top five in his discography. And all recorded in 2 hours!
Playing on Compact Disc - Lovely Tribute to Blues legend Robert Johnson from Rory Block
Tidal. Ursula Rucker - Ma'at Mama
I suppose one had to be there at the time, but I was owning it on a compact cassette and quite enjoy this album even though it is rather panned by the critics

2 x LP - Legacy 2010 reissue [ limited numbered edition 2401 ]
Queen - The Works

Norah Jones - Come Away with Me - CD
Melody Gardot - My One and Only Thrill - CD
Wonderful performances from both these talented ladies.
I’m hunting for music to go with my pilgrimage movie. Best so far is Cara Dillon Wanderer track10 (Dubhdara). Thoughts on subject of travel on foot and sea welcome.
Phil
Have a listen to Hejira by Joni Mitchell Phil. The whole theme of the album is travel (and relationships).
Placebo are a bit of an acquired taste but this album is chock full of great tracks which showcases Brian Molko's lyrics and voice superbly. A true classic which includes a fantastic cover of Kate Bush's "Running up that hill". Awesome.
Tidal. Eric Clapton & Friends - The Breeze, An Appreciation of JJ Cale
on CD. Not one of his most aclaimed releases but the title track is something else.
Starting this evening's session with some Genesis. I think this album is bit under rated.
Was a Great follow up earlier this afternoon...
A littlr Van the Man. 2 disc set not the normal release version.
Jackson Browne - Running on Empty, WAV CD rip
Great live album, fantastic songs played with convicti9n. Another possibility for.Phil, more travel themed music.
Rory Block - Avalon, Tidal
Saw Tabby Cat playing Rory Block’s tribute to Robert Johnson earlier, and went to look on Tidal. It wasn’t there, but several other tribute albums by her were, I chose this Mississippi John Hurt one. She’s a superb acoustic blues player, this is brilliant. I lost track of Rory’s work a long time ago, and missed the Mentor series, I think I feel a bulk buy coming on
(1971)
Meddle
I played this a few weeks ago and the need is upon me once again, this is my favourite 'Floyd and the so called 'black triangle' CD rip is the best I have ever heard.

[@mention:69567902137547080], Thanks for these two suggestions. I like this 1960s photo of Joni Mitchell searching for Hejira. It reminds me that there was a young woman who carried a guitar on my pilgrimage (Hejira). I like Amelia and it lyrics. Hejira of course. The lyrics of Refuge of the Road look good. I have the Jackson Browne on vinyl. Will play later.

Thanks for that picture Phil, Joni looks like she’s really happy there.
