On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Ellen Allien. Nost. 2017
(1972)
Neil Young - Harvest
foggy, bleak day here in New York City -- Uncle Tupelo's Anodyne seems like the right LP. also, thanks to [@mention:69004037454627179] above: i'll dig out my copy of Speak Like a Child next.

I enjoy most of Kaun's music, what did you make of this solo from Anton?
A bit of Evanescense to kick-off the evening. There's something special about a female vocal lead for a heavy rock band. Amy Lee does a fabulous job.

Ese and the Vooduu People, the singles album, 24/192 download
(I tagged both their singles with Singles as the album name.) I downloaded Silver Spoon during the week, 1st chance to listen properly, they are a tight band, Ese has a fantastic soul/blues/rock voice another fine song, I think their best outing yet. If the luck goes their way, they could he huge. Cheers Kev.
Thanks Eoin. I will pass that on.
Between work and visiting family and friends, I’m in the Smoke a couple of times a month. I watch the Vooduu People’s gig list, I’ll get to one next year I hope. From the live recordings I get the feeling the energy is great at their gigs.
Primal Scream - Give Out But Don't Give Up - The Original Memphis Recordings.
Playing this yet again, for which I make no apologies, as it may well be album of the year, Chez Dave.
If you haven't yet heard this, you are seriously missing out on a beautiful album .......... it's on Tidal, so go on, treat yourself.
Playing on Vinyl - Very nice Vivaldi Recorder Concertos to do the cooking too.

Cheers Eoin - nothing much this year now, as Ese and Sheena are currently on tour with Alabama 3, but hopefully next year should be a productive one.
Uk first press vinyl. Something of a 1970s Britsoul/funk classic:

I have mentioned this in passing....Maurice from Chord played this at Audio show east. It’s my album of the year, as you mention it’s a beautiful recording. The BBC4 documentary on the Memphis sessions may still be on catch up. From very emotional to being very funny, and very interesting. Some great quotes from Noel Gallagher about his mate Bobbie Gillespie.
(2011)
Moon Duo - Mazes
Lovely, heavy, smokey psychedelic rock helping me to try and forget the last couple of hours.
After a dose of Evanescence, a change of genre and pace. Think I'll have to look out for more of Chely Wright's music.
The Enid - Touch Me, UK 1st press vinyl
I listened a lot to the Enid when at college and for the first few years after graduation, at friends’ places. Bought this today, having not listened to it for maybe 30 years, I still remembered it. A cross between prog and classical, BJH meets Bruckner maybe, it’s lovely lush complex keyboard-led music with a rock band, some quite sophisticated composition and classy playing. More enjoyable than that makes it sound. The green marker is the signature of Robert John Godfrey, the band leader, signatures on the back are probably other band members, I can read one, and Godfrey also signed the inner sleeve with the same marker.
I must admit, I totally missed this music-genius - what a singer! Deep music with emotional nerve

MDS, this one is well worth investing some pocket money on I'll run through a couple more in the week she had made some lovely albums indeed.
Emerson Lake & Palmer - Works Volume 1 - U.K. 1st press vinyl
After the Enid, went for some more keyboard classical prog with Emerson’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the LPO. It’s a pretty good Concerto, but to be honest reminded me why I don’t listen to it, he’s a fine player and the music is technically competent and has a good range of emotional feel, but it doesn’t grab me.

Cheers, PCD. Will make a note of that one.
Otis Redding and Carla Thomas - King & Queen, from the 2017 Otis Redding Definitive Studio Album Rhino box-set
The SQ on this box-set is impeccable, which allows the immense musicality of the singers to shine. Otis Redding and Carla Thomas could wring every ounce of meaning from a lyric while making it sound both effortless and musical, backed by the great Stax house band while singing great soul songs they created a joyous album.

Now that’s a cover that’d be hard to miss on the Nova.
Interestingly, if I enlarge it on my iPhone so that the coloured circle fills the whole screen, it appears to take on three dimensional qualities.
Primal Scream - Screamadelica - boxset.
Four CD boxset, essential listening for all Scream fans.
The first disc features the original album with audio re-mastered by Primal Scream and Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine including the hit songs Moving On Up and Come Together.
Disc two presents the Dixie Narco EP with disc three featuring a range of remixes by Terry Farley, The Orb and Andrew Weatherall.
The final disc of the set presents the audio from a live show at the Hollywood Palladium.
40 tracks at less than 50p each over on The River ................. bargain, innit.
Free - Highway, their fourth album, released '70.
US first press vinyl - a random pick.
Mary Black - Without the Fanfare, UK first press vinyl
Mid-‘80s album, so a few songs have a bit of that era’s production, but it doesn’t detract from a great Irish folk sound. Mary’s in fine voice, the songs are excellent, quite a few Jimmy McCarthy numbers which is a promise of musical quality, and the musicians include the great Declan Sinnott on guitar/harmony vocals and Donal Lunny, Irish folk-rock royalty. Mary is one of the finest Irish singers of any genre, her version of the haunting Sydney Carter song Crow on the Cradle on this album is the most chilling I have ever heard.
Mary Black here as well very enjoyable.
