10/10, Bert. You've passed the Genesis initiation test! It all went downhill when Steve Hackett left.
Wrong! It went downhill when Gabriel left. It just took another couple of albums for Hackett to realise they had long been doomed!
Maybe true, but that would be to exclude Trick, which was a fine album IMHO.
Very much agree, Clive. Trick of the Tail is right up there with the other classic Genesis albums in my view.
The Rachmaninov Preludes: Claire Huangci, piano
Need a rest after a day of DIY. A cuppa and this lovely Mary Black album should do the trick.
(1971)
Naturally
Some lovely early, well recorded, fine sounding J.J. Cale, perfect to gently step into the evening with.

Didn't know those SL2s did rock, HH.
1973 - Uk first pressing...
Dug this one out after seeing the band in another tread and, allegedly, more cohesive than their debut. Not so sure.
Playing on Vinyl - Texan Blues from Philip Walker
Played earlier the gravely voice of Willie Nelson
(1997)
10,000 Clowns
Jan Akkerman's fine live double solo album. He was of course the founder member of Focus and in 1973 voted the best guitar player in the world by Melody Maker, I wouldn't go that far (by any stretch) but he is one very fine player when he's in the mood to get it on. Nice to see a photo of him 'warming up' in Utrecht on the cover of the album...

This is indeed a great album. Highly recommended, if you want to have a feeling of a concert in a Smoky Club type of environment, not even knowing if it was recorded in that environment, but it at least sounds like it.
Now onto another Mary Black album. Prompted by a recent mention on here when I think Eoink was describing its merits.

I know what you mean Bert. These were all live recordings in several venues over a couple of years, this clip from the usually reliable Discogs:
The first cd contains recordings of concerts he gave in the past two years the Dutch theaters. Pieces like "Skydancer", "Focus 2", "Pre Madonna" and "Pedestrians" let especially the quiet, atmospheric side of Aa. The second disc was, in the open air and at a temperature of-4 degrees, recorded on 18 april 1997 during the Blues Route in Utrecht. It was, despite the harsh conditions, a spectacular concert. Played were "Sylvia", "Focus 3", the funky "Weed stalker" and the ' bluesje for Ome Kees ' "Pool house".
Now Playing...........
Neil Young - Songs For Judy
Streaming on TIDAL.......... a new release, November 29, 2018, from Neil Young and this is my time taking out for a spin!
Staying with the Country theme Garth Brooks this is a excellent album.
Bill Evans - Waltz for Debby
From the release of the year (The Girl From Chickasaw County), the "Live at the BBC" chapter. Gets better every time you hear it.
1978 - Vinyl
More from the Queen of the Delta. This time it's the Fancy chapter. So much to enjoy: the title track, definitive covers of "Rainmaker", "Apartment 21", "Wedding Bell Blues" and "He Made A Woman Out Of Me", etc etc.
What a gal!
Brahms | Duvernoy | Koechlin | Kahn: Andrej Bielow | Herbert Schuch | Felix Klieser
Horn Trios
A perfect accompaniment to cooking the dinner, playing on the kitchen Qb.
Playing on Vinyl on Kama Sutra Records - Fabulous garage rock from San Francisco's Flaming Groovies from 1971
Enjoying, once again, the remaster. Very pleased at the huge improvement in reproduction quality over my previous CD of Electric Ladyland.
