Nordic-Arabic trance jazz, just brilliant.
lovely - just put in CD and press play - voila!
Petrenko already made quite some remarkable recordings with this orchestra, so let’s see how this one holds up...
Tommy James and The Shondells. Anthology. On CD from 1989. Just bought, first listen. This compilation commands a couple of accolades. First, I have a couple of equivalent LPs* and the digital SQ here is far better in comparison; excellent clarity, depth into the mix and imaging. Love the tonal balance top-to-bottom. A very well mastered CD. Second, the track selection and ordering is logical; mostly but not entirely chronological and it flows nicely. Compared to my LPs, this CD really demonstrates how well-recorded these tracks were. Highly recommended.
* Roulette label LPs with "electronically re-channeled" stereo.
Pre-listening to the eclassical special Christmas deal of the day...
The Best Of Badfinger. On CD from 1995. Following up on my Tommy James post with a similarly enjoyable compilation. This one also plays with very good SQ and why not being recorded mostly at Abbey Road and AIR studios with production contributions by McCartney, Harrison, and Geoff Emerick?
Triggered by the posts under the ND555 impressions taking on some Simply Red. This album is not the best I think, the addition of the symphonic players takes out the punch of the music, so it becomes a bit lazy. At the beginning of the concert his voice is having trouble as I remember from the concert at North Sea Jazz Festival, later on it get’s better...
This is then much more enjoyable, of course also the guy years younger and having a much better voice...
