On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
On Vinyl:
Simply Red - Picture Book
Warming up to Molly Burch before tonight’s gig at The Leaf in Liverpool. ????
On Vinyl:
Continued with nice trio music of Chick...
And now another one...
Duke Ellington Meets Coleman Hawkins
I couldn't decide what to play. This is a recent purchase, so I'll see if this provides some inspiration and where it takes me.
On Vinyl:
Never heard this one before but this is so good an so well recorded for 1958, a true masterpiece!
Now playing.......
Simply Red - Picture Book
Streaming on TIDAL.......... going with a mention from ALFA4LIFE and taking 'Picture Book' out for a spin, and the opening track is sounding mighty fine! .
(1973)
The Beatles | 1962 -1966 (Disc 2)
I had some early fab's songs running around in my head today so I'm sticking this collection on for now as a quick fix.
Glenn Gould - Bach: Goldberg variations
It's a nice experience hearing Glenn Gould's 1955 Golberg variations in crystal clear sound quality.

If you made The Beatles up in a story, people would say it’d be ridiculous that they could come up with what they did in those few years...and then follow that up with another three amazing ones.
And still you come across the odd swivel-eyed loon that will claim they were overrated.
Playing on Vinyl on 4 AD Records - Very good debut from New Yorks Ultra Vivid Scene - The Mercy Seat is brilliant
Steve Hillage - Fish Rising
See where Duke Ellington can lead you!

Wow, that takes me back a while. I think I first saw them, the video for Mercy Seat, in a programme called Rapido circa 88/89 on BBC2 if my memory serves me well.
Great stuff.
1988 - UK pressing...
Anna Von Hausswolff - The Miraculous
Playing on Compact Disc - Good follow up to Hot Fuss - Love the cover and Uncle Johnny is great with the keyboard sound and guitar riff.
Today is Mozart's Death-day : (
Maybe more appropriate to play his Requiem...
but thought i'd enjoy some jubilation to celebrate the life of the most genius music composer.
Debs
June Tabor - Angel Tiger
The sparse arrangements seem to force the listener to feel the emotion In June's exquisite voice. Marvellous album.
Sonny Rollins - The Bridge
- Bass – Bob Cranshaw
- Drums – Ben Riley, H. T. Saunders
- Sax - Sonny Rollins
- Guitar – Jim Hall
BB King Live at the Newport Festival 1968.
