I like the special edition version, slightly more expensive, but is the studio version and live in Berlin, either way, just beautiful.

Simone Felice - The Projector.  Atmospheric and ethereal sounding American folk music.  This is a really good album.  I think it might be his best work since the albums released when he was part of the band, The Duke and the King.

Hi Gazza,

Appreciate not quite the right thread. My wife and I saw Katie and the choir last week in Cardiff. It was flawless a fantastic night out.

I will try Tidal for the special edition version.

ATB,

Mike.

Just giving this a first spin.  Icelandic band Arstidir with Nivalis.  This is another forum discovery - I think it was PaulM160 who recommended this and described it as somewhere between Sigur Ros and Talk Talk.  A good description.

Manfred Mann with Paul Jones - MANN Made Hits - 2018 Mono vinyl (“Artist Approved”)

I heard Tim Rice choose the Manfred’s version of With God on Our Side as an Inheritance Track on Radio 4 this morning, which reminded me I’d picked up the vinyl reissue boxset of their first 4 albums when I saw them recently. This is the studio album released in 1966 compiling their hits, by now they were pop rather than the R&B band they’d started as, but both their originals and their well-chosen covers are damn good songs. They were fine musicians, Paul Jones had (and still has) a great blues voice, top-rank mid’60s pop. All together now “Pre-e-e-e-ty Flamingo”!

The Smoker You Drink The Player You Get

In the mood for that old Eagle Smokin' Joe Walsh, so I decided to start here with his fine sophomore album. Just the forty five years old this year it's well recorded with lovely SQ off early original CDs.

Clearing out a couple of cupboards I found a stash of vinyl, I've had a sift through and I've been drawn to this. It's shameless pop but wonderful fun and I forgot how superb those 2 girls sound in harmony with fabulous production care of Rodgers and Was:

Led Zeppelin - How the West was Won - 2018 vinyl reissue

Putting the Manfreds back on the box-set stack spotted this, and couldn’t resist. Playing disc 2, Stairway is such a great song,  massively overplayed on radio and elsewhere, yet it stays fresh for me every time. On this form, was there ever a better live band than Zep? 4 musicians who knew each other completely, their interplay was instinctive and perfect, they were happy to take over each other’s roles, Percy providing a lead line with his voice, JPJ taking lead with his bass, Page sharing rhythm with Bonzo, Bonzo sharing lead lines with Jimmy, they were the complete band, technically superb, but much more, energy and charisma as well as great songs and playing. I never saw them live,  lucky people who did.
