On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Barbra Streisand - The Ultimate Collection
I watched a programme on BBC iplayer over the weekend and wow, what a determined, talented and successful lady.
Blues Brothers Original Soundtrack: vinyl
Wow! Just gave this a spin, and what a vibrant, jump up and dance experience it is! Dynamic and fully fledged funk. Shake your tail-feathers!

Just scrolling up the page and I knew who had posted before I read the name..????
Every home should have one! CD rip
Kevin-W posted:On CD-R, burnt from the 16/44 files (themselves taken off the all-analogue master), "Up In Smoke" (the debut album from Ese & The Voddu People). Sounding absolutely sensational through the S40s. I really love the recording, mixing and production. Top notch and money well spent, IMO (well I would say that, wouldn't I)?
I don't know anything about the music, just love the machine..
A lot of times the music here gets an extra flavor depending on my activity prior to playing it. Well, Mr. Fray is following four hours in the very cold outdoors, raking icy leaves which felt like raking gravel.
Nice piano music before...
Ending the evening with something refreshing...
Mr. Fingers - Cerebral Hemispheres (2018). Good sounding, I don't know ... Electro chill. Yes, Tobyjug some are paying attention..
Angela Hewitt - Scarlatti
hungryhalibut posted:One of my favourite bands back in the day, and one of the best gigs I have ever been to, at Worthing Assembly Rooms. Terry in the middle of the stage, with Neville and Lynval on top of the PA stacks. I had a Specials patch on my lab coat, and a little plastic man given to me by my friend Tanya, which sat on my desk in every exam to bring me luck. To say I liked them was something of an understatement. And the great thing is that the albums have stood the test of time. This is CD1 of a 3 CD set.
My older brother went to that concert and I was so jealous but was considered too young and of course my older brother didn't want me cramping his style I seem to remember him getting Terry and Jerry's autograph but that bit might be another gig. The Specials where my gateway drug into reggae and ska and where the only one of those bands that I really got into, I loved that whole style though along with the mod revival.
Groovy compilation from the Germany label. Good sound. Only £3 odd from Qobuz.
Early English music to get the day going. On CD:
Playing as doe's Kev on the really excellant v.f.m label Naxos - Delightful Vivaldi Flute Conceros - Sort of dovetails this cold bright English weather this morning
EST - Strange Place For Snow
Great with second coffee.
Vinyl released 1989 - A fine textured and well produced debut album. ????

One of my fav albums
Playing on Compact Disc - Super dry songs from the fabulous New Yorkers The Eels from 2013
Paul McCartney and Wings - Red Rose Speedway , now playing the second disc of bonus material that also includes singles releases from the same period. Most certainly one of the more worthwhile extra discs from the archive series.
Mark Knopfler - Down The Road Wherever. A very welcome addition to his body of work.
The Whitest Boy Alive - Rules
Long overlooked here at Chateau Christophe. No more.

I'm on a mission to introduce all my friends to this magnificent album. As all of us I knew many of their surf cars and girl songs , and I even saw them in 1972, but didn't know Pet Sounds until I bought a copy in 1995 having read Mojo mag best albums of all time article.
I was entirely blown away and went back to the record store the next day to find out what other albums they had. Since then we have collected all Beach Boys, Brian Wilson and all other members solo work. We have seen Brian Wilson 9 times and the Beach Boys 5 times, and met BW himself at post gig meet and greet. Our collection of around 150 albums and bootlegs on cd and vinyl, numerous DVDs, loads of books and biographies.
This glorious music will last forever.
