On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
I've seen this mentioned on here quite a few times and finally picked this up today during a lunchtime Christmas shop. I'm so used to buying my CD's off t'internet that i'd forgotten the pleasure of browsing in HMV...
Big and Bad it certainly is
Billy F Gibbons - The Big Bad Blues

Nope but thought I would give them another listen. Still doesn't do anything for me.
..followed up on headphones by Paul Simon, Surprise. An unfamiliar album for me, but very enjoyable. I will definitely be revisiting this album.
Ike Quebec - Blue and Sentimental
An album I've not played much and listening to it now I cannot see why that should be. It's a superbly recorded album of bluesy jazz, with Grant Green (g), Paul Chambers (b) and Philly Joe Jones (d).
According to Steve Huey on AllMusic, it is "a superbly sensuous blend of lusty blues swagger and achingly romantic ballads... a quiet, sorely underrated masterpiece".
George Benson - Breezin' , smooth
Now Playing.................
Natalie Merchant - Leave Your Sleep
Streaming on TIDAL......... Spending the afternoon with Natalie with this 26 track release from 2010. I could not think of anyone more that I would want to keep me company, Natalie is sounding mighty sweet!
Genesis - Foxtrot - CD
Too much plotting going on: the cover tells the story. The music stirs the blood and is amazing. The track list reads like a plot.
- Watcher Of The Skies
- Time Table
- Get 'Em Out By Friday
- Can-Utility And The Coastliners
- Horizons
- Supper's Ready
- Lover's Leap
- The Guaranteed Eternal Sanctuary Man
- Ikhnaton And Itsacon And Their Band Of Merry-Men
- How Dare I Be So Beautiful?
- Willow Farm Apocalypse In 9/8
- As Sure As Eggs Is Eggs (Aching Men's Feet)

I have the Music Matters remastered copy of this great record the single 33rpm vinyl version and it is in the top five best sounding records I own if ever an instrument had it's own voice capable of conveying emotions it is Ike Quebecs sax.
European be-bop. Listenable but not especially distinctive.
