What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Warren Bernhardt - "Ain't Life Grand" (1990)
Playing on Compact Disc - Paisley Underground pop from those gourgous Bangles - Going down to Liverpool is my favourite song but there all great.
Now Playing....................
Quercus - Night Fall
June Tabor (voice), Iain Ballamy (tenor saxophone, soprano saxophone) and Huw Warren (piano).
Streaming on NAS.......... another of yesterday's arrival and taking out this fine trio for another spin....... Quite enjoyable!
Fancied some super-smooth, super-cool Sade.
Playing on Double Vinyl - Some nice Joni to kick back too.
George Cables - Quiet Fire
Dido - No Angel - CD
There is stuff on this that I haven’t heard before! It is sounding very exciting. We always liked her music.
Phil
(1967)
Magical Mystery Tour
John, Paul, George and Ringo remastered here at half speed by Stan Ricker in 1982 for Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs. Surely I don't need to give a reason for listening to this album again...
Going in with this one this evening - cold dark evenings always have me snuggling up to some Floyd.
Every now and then I need to hear this to stay sane....it sounds significantly better on the ND555 as compared to the NDS...
Emily Remler & Larry Coryell - Together
Inspired by Clive B's postings of Emily Remler.
I guess it will be a rocky night. This is the best album of the New Deep Purple in my opinion....
And just slipped into another great Purple album....
(1966)
Fifth Dimension
Staying in 1966 and crossing the Atlantic to this fine album by The Byrds
One of my lesser-played Dire Straits albums, though I don't know why I tend to ignore it.
The Allman Bros Band - Win,Lose or Draw, from '75 ,one of their lesser albums ,but ok all the same.Six concise tracks and one in their epic style.
And another change of genre this evening. So glad I was introduced to Natalie Merchant through this thread.
You should also listen to Natalie's early stuff with 10,000 Maniacs (especially Our Time in Eden) . Also the new Tigerlily Recordings from a couple of years ago
Vinyl stereo remaster originally released 1965 - 14 songs spanning 34mins ... classic fabs. 8)
The version of "Shadow of Your Smile" is worth the entire album.

I thought I had all their albums, but breathed a sigh of relief when I realised this was a compilation! (I tend not to do ‘Greatest Hits’ or compilation albums, preferring to hear the tracks in their original settings).

Agreed Timmo. I think I've had this DS album for a very long time.

Cheers, Andrew. I've just gone on the 'big river' and ordered the latter. Arrives tomorrow.
