Bill Evans - Portrait in Jazz

His first album recorded with Scott LaFaro (b) and Paul Motian (d). Is this his finest studio album?

Great suggestion Clive! I am listening to this one as well. It's a very good one indeed. Regards, Jeroen.

Released 2012 - Chuck Leavell's keyboard work has been heard by millions, but his solo recordings have been fairly infrequent. Back to the Woods seems like a labor of love for Leavell, and while it may not reach as wide an audience as has his work with the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton and others, it's one of the best musical projects he has done in many years, and it's a thoroughly enjoyable recording. ????

Love this show on a Sunday afternoon - all the music i was too young to appreciate at the time. Dog on the sofa with me, the other half wrapping presents in front of the fire and a cheeky glass of Laphroaig in hand...

My latest Natalie Merchant purchase.  Sound quality on this CD is very nice as is the re-working of her earlier material giving it a more intimate quality.

****************

Back in 2002,  l was doing some permitted bootleg recordings of Jerry Joseph and his band the Jackmormons.  They did an in-store on a Saturday preceding an evening headline show in Portland.  The recording turned-out decent and was offered-up for cd-r trades on a JJ fan site on-line.

l got an email from a lady with the last name Leavell wanting a copy as she was working for Terminus Records, which was the label of Jerry's newest release then, and she wanted a live copy of some of those songs. l wrote back saying l would be glad to make her a copy and said l needed to ask  - as Terminus Records was in Georgia  and l was familiar with Chuck from as far back as Allman Brothers/Sea Level releases - did she know him ?

She wrote back and said she was his daughter and offered me a free copy of "Forever Blue" as her side of the trade.  Small world at times.

lineage was a singleA T 4041 mono mic into a Folio Notepad pre-amp into a Nakamichi Dragn cassette deck and transferred to cd-r.  A JJ fan uploaded it to this site.
