On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
On vinyl...
As compilations go, this is an absolute belter - playing now on CD:
On pure pleasure double vinyl, sounds great!
Now playing..........
Tord Gustavsen - What Was Said
Tord Gustavsen (piano, electronics, synth bass), Simin Tander (voice) and Jarle Vespestad (drums).
Streaming on NAS........ continuing on with Tord this Sunday morning, perfect music for the day!
Bruce Springsteen - The Live Series; Songs of the Road
I'm not exactly a huge fan of Bruce, however I'm rather enjoying this via Tidal.
(1968)
Waiting For The Sun
Another of this year's very fine remasters which, sounds very good to these ears. Playing CD one of two, the second being some interesting recently discovered rough mixes and previously unreleased live material of The Doors in Copenhagen.
"Remastered Original Stereo Mix Rhino commemorating the 50th anniversary of the album this year with WAITING FOR THE SUN: 50th ANNIVERSARY DELUXE EDITION. This 2-Discs collection features a new version of the album’s original stereo mix on both CD and 180-gram vinyl LP, which has been newly remastered from the original master tapes by Bruce Botnick, the Doors’ longtime engineer/mixer. The set also includes a second disc of 14 completely unreleased tracks: nine recently discovered “rough mixes” from the album recording sessions and five live songs from a 1968 Copenhagen show."
After Natalie Merchant I thought: 'now for something different' (as they used to say on Monty Python's Flying Circus)
james n posted:Love this show on a Sunday afternoon - all the music i was too young to appreciate at the time. Dog on the sofa with me, the other half wrapping presents in front of the fire and a cheeky glass of Laphroaig in hand...
Johnnie Walker's Sounds of the 70s
Showing my age here, I used to listen him (and the other DJs of course bobbing away in the North Sea) on pirate radio station Caroline after having gone to bed under the sheet and blanket with a single earpiece from a tiny portable radio, great memories. It was said that in 1967 when they were finally forced to shut down that they were broadcasting to an estimated 20 million listeners, might impressive and great fun!

Some nice sets of tyres there, Mike.
Larry Schneider - Lemon lips
Great hard bop by Larry Schneider and his quartet.
- Larry Schneider - Sax
- Gaspare Di Lieto - Piano
- Dariio Deidds - Bass
- Amedeo Ariano - Drums
Odean Pope Saxophone Choir - Locked & Loaded
Now that I’ve got my serviced and DR’d 555PS back from Naim, I can listen to some streamed music agin- this isn’t sounding too shabby.
Now some Annie Lennox. Why? Because having just played some Betsy, her voice reminds me of Annie's.
Music by Marais, Hotteterre, de Visee, Blavet, etc.
(1967)
Sticking with 50th Anniversary remasters and with The Doors again, this one from the Original mono tapes.
