On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:

It's been a while and the mood is upon me for their first bluesy one...
Never a bad time to play that classic, Steve. I wonder if Theresa May is a fan of 'Dazed and Confused' ?
There are quite a few titles on that album which would be appropriate in number 10 just now, e.g. Good Times Bad Times, You Shook Me, How Many More Times, Communication Breakdown and others. Maybe she'll end up on a Black Mountain Side.
Brainless moron? Self serving ****wit? Enemy of the people?
Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms
Brings back good memories of many years ago. I had this on cassette which I played on a Sony Walkman over and over.
Great tunes and great days.

Gun: Favourite Pleasures
First pressing yellow vinyl, signed copy.
This album brings Gun back on form. The vocals don't have the same intensity as the 80s, but good old fashioned bluesy Glaswegian rock with grit.
If you liked 'Word Up' then you'll like this return to form except the generic and unimaginative 'ht boy who fooled the world' which is utter tosh.
On CD:-

Spectral Morning
It's good to dig out some Steve Hackett now and again, this is one of his better and better known solo albums released a couple of years after he had split from Genesis.
Steve,
Nice Hackett choice.BTW did you know that Steve is touring next November I think. He's doing Selling England By The Pound in it's entirety and tracks from Spectral Mornings as it will be 40 years old.
I saw Steve on the Spectral Mornings tour in 1979 at Brighton Dome and he came on with Land of A Thousand Autumns with this green spotlight behind him projecting green rays out into the auditorium. After this build up he went into Please Don't touch. My mates and I had front row balcony seats and the P.A sound was stunning.Great gig.
Cheers Ian
Thanks for letting me know about the November tour I wasn't aware of it. That 1979 gig in Brighton by your description must have been a great gig. Unfortunately for me I was "doing "Libya in the late seventies and missed a lot of great stuff going on back home.
Small world! I went to that gig at the Dome in ‘79. I found it interminably tedious due to ridiculously self indulgent guitar noodling. I’m sure Steve Hackett enjoyed himself, but I was relieved at going home time. So perhaps you had a lucky escape.
Joe Walsh
Analog Man - CD Rip

Get The Blessing - Bristopia
They first whetted my appetite at the Muso launch event all those years ago, when they were on the Naim label. Then I heard them on Late Junction a few weeks ago. And you know how it is when you are ordering Christmas presents on Amazon and you sneak in one for yourself. It's one of those. Bert, I reckon you might like it if you haven't got it already.
Playing on Cassette on TDK SA C60 - Reaching for some Jimi to get the working day in the office going.Nothing to add about this album still sounds fresh all these years later.
Runrig
Once In A Lifetime Live - CD Rip
My favorite Runrig album.

I’ve dropped some ten ton hints that if Santa was to squeeze this down the chimney I would be a happy boy.

Wow it is a small world in life and the forum. As for Steves guitar noodling well thats what he does.I thought he was great but a fine illustration we all like difearant things in life and only what you like is what matters, with anything I suppose especially in the Hi Fi Corner
Wishing you a good Christmas
Cheers Ian
Thanks Ian, and the same to you and yours. Does this mean you still live dahn sarf?
