On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Went searching for relaxing saxophone albums and turned up some, hitherto, unheard of gems.
A track off the new Toronzo Cannon album due out sometime next year

CatPower - The Wanderer.
A return to form for Chan Marshall with sparse piano backing her oh so soulful voice.
Buy with confidence. Get on your Xmas list so that your wife's auntie, whom you never see and can't remember her name, buys it for you for Xmas.
Ray
A composition - Terry Riley's In C - I find endlessly fascinating. This is a a multi-tracked one man version. From Qobuz.
Yevgeny Sudbin - Chopin
Starting off with the cd version of George’s excellent album. ????
I have just listened to'Soul Music' on BBC Radio 4 FM, which was the first in a series of programmes about music which elicits an emotional response. The first programme was about Joni Mitchell's song, River, from the album Blue. One version of the song heard in the programme was by Scott Matthews. It was taken from a live session he recorded for BBC Radio 6. I'd never heard of him, but was sufficiently impressed to hear him again. Well, I couldn't find the BBC 6 version, but did find this, which is nearly as good. I recommend searching out the programme on the BBC Sounds application too.
Bowie - Hunky Dory
It's been a while since I played this record. What a record! Seminal seems a bit overused in this game. I'll settle on stonking. Or possibly, absolutely stocious!
