What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Elmore James - The Ultimate Collection.
I make no apologies for posting this one twice, in as many days, 'cos it's simply the best of the King of blues slide guitar. IMHO.
Lee Morgan - The Sidewinder
Why? Need to calm down a bit after the frenetic headbanging induced by Mr Kilmister and his cohort.

Mad Season-Above
this just fits the mood of the day.

A UK singer songwriter who isn't posted much on this forum and should be. If you ever get a chance to go and see him live then do so.
Regarding John Smith: Thanks for this Ewen, first listen sounds excellent and an artist I had not previously heard. Things to explore. Be well. Jeff A
He was aksed to tour with David Gray and from all reports he went down an absolute storm. Usually support acts are not that great or it is very rare to find one that is any good but I hear a lot of the audiences asked him back for encores.
Think I will join Dave. The cd's on the Relic label are some of the best sounding Elmore sets out there evne better than the Ace sets.
Mark Knopfler - Local hero
My Bloody Valentine. MBV
of course this really needs to be played really loud
(2 o'clock on mine - strange cut !!)(but still not that loud)..
1976 - UK second pressing...
A fantastic sonic landscape to get lost in on this cold, grey day.
Malia & Boris Blank - Convergence
Big Jack Johnson & The Oilers - All The Way Back
One of Ewe's recommendations during his last Blues-fest on here.
This is the blues just how I like it. Belter, and that's for sure!
Now Playing.....
John Hiatt - Dirty Jeans And Mudslide Hymns
Streaming on TIDAL......... Starting Saturday with some John Hiatt and he is sounding mighty fine.......
Buddy Guy & Junior Wells - Pure Raw Blues.
Mo' bar room blues from one of the great bands.
John Primer - Cold Blooded Blues Man
Having a mini blues-fest of my own. This and the Big Jack Johnson (above) CDs turned up today so giving them a spin.
John Primer was another Ewe recommendation but the 'All Original' album (the CD of which I now own also). On 'Cold Blooded Blues Man' JP, a little unconventionally, adds a sax player which I think is wonderful.
Needless to say, another belter IMHO.
Eric Clapton - Sessions For Robert J a live in the studio blues set covering the songs of Robert Johnson backed by his then stellar touring band ( Gadd, East, Bramhall, Preston and Stainton ).This is a vast improvement on the previous rather sterile effort Me and Mr Johnson.Comes with a great accompanying DVD too.
Now switched to Why Don't You Try Me Tonight -The Best of Ry Cooder I have all the albums but this is such a well chosen collection thats always a pleasure
Alan
A selection of the aboves radio broadcasts from the 40's.
One of the best Larry Garner albums.
Marvellous
Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827): Quartetto Italiano
Working on the Op. 18 quartets of Beethoven.
Not played this one for a few weeks. I'd forgotten what a good album this is.
Sarah Jarosz - Follow Me Down
Jimmy Rogers Allstars Blues Band - Blues Blues Blues.
Saturday afternoon bluesfest happening ................ so, this one, a jam session with a stellar supporting cast ................. sure, it's just
an album of blues standards, but it's nicely relaxing, easy going, blues.
Miles Davis-Kind of Blue
not a huge jazz fan but my recent Aja session has me a bit interested. Since I have this one as a WAV file I thought what the hell.
BOY !
just a few days after this flew in and I am fully in love (aand swear the cover picture only has a minor part in my love). What an inspired bunch of musicians, crowned by Melody Gardot‘s multi lingual singing. And her voice ! And the communication with the various European audiences. CD of the year, already.
MAN !
(1990)
Ozric Tentacles - Pungent Effulgent
Something to kick the evening off with after the football and the rugby on mute.
Now Playing.......
Mary Chapin Carpenter - Come On Come On
Streaming on NAS....... Moving from John to Mary and it is a easy transition, both great vocals, lyrics, and music......
