On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:

I never need an excuse to play this album, without doubt my favourite studio album from the master songstress. This is written into my DNA and has a secret hidden spot on my desert island!
Clive it's my favourite Joni album too.As you have so eloquently said on other Heijra posting the lyrics really went up a level on that album. There's just so much story in songs like Song for Sharon.I also love how restrospective she gets in Amelia.
The album cover so nicely dovetails the music within. One of those albums that should be in every collection its like a musical talking book
Interestingly, when I was searching on-line for an image of the sleeve to include in the post, I found several others from the photo shoot. I really liked this one, where Joni is smiling so broadly.
Released 1989 - Just what the Dr ordered, fine album. ????
Dr. John – vocals, keyboards
Hugh McCracken – guitar
Paul Jackson, Jr. – acoustic guitar
Abraham Laboriel, Marcus Miller, David Barard – bass
Harvey Mason, Herlin Riley, Jeff Porcaro – drums
Lenny Castro, Trazi Williams – percussion
David "Fathead" Newman, Joel Peskin – saxophone
Marty Paich – horn and string arrangements
Ralph Burns – horn arrangements
Rickie Lee Jones - Vocals
A bit strange after listening to a string quartet - but anyhow very much liked...
Playing on Compact Disc on Naxos - This has become a real favourite as I don't have much Basson stuff in the classical collection.
Echo and the Bunnymen - Ocean Rain

I am the same, great guy - music does nothing for me at all.

Nor me.
A special album, with a warm feel to it...
I saw these guys live at North Sea Jazz this year. Was a bit sceptical as to the combination and how it would work, but I was enchanted by the result ...
Was mentioned in the new magazine of Jazzism, not so convinced...
I don’t know why, but I avoided it so far, but it’s actually as good as quite a number of reviewers say, so have to have it...
It is always nice to hear the wonderful Elizabeth Fraser
For me so far unknown alb7m of Wayne, quite good so should get it...
Playing on Compact Disc - Glamming it up with this T Rex classic from 1972.
Now Playing..........
Brian Blade Fellowship - Perceptual
Brian Blade (drums, guitar, vocals), Melvin Butler (tenor saxophone, soprano saxophone), Jon Cowherd (piano, keyboards), Dave Easley (pedal steel guitar), Kurt Rosenwinkel (electric guitar, acoustic guitar), Christopher Thomas (bass), Myron Walden (alto saxophone, bass clarinet), Daniel Lanois (guitars, tracks 8 & 9 only), Joni Mitchell (vocal, track 8 only).
Streaming on NAS.......... A mention from RICHARD MORRIS above reminded me that I have not taken 'Perceptual' out for a spin in awhile and it is one fine album and a very nice way to kick off this Thursday morning! ........sounding sweet!
Andrew Hill - Black Fire
One of my best buys this year, following a recommendation from Jeroen. Some superbly creative jazz in hard bop / post bop style. Recorded in 1963 and released the following year.
Dead man drumming. On original Ryko CD:
Playing on Cassette on TDK AR C60 - Incredible dry Scotish humour from the late Ivor Cutler
Ivor Cutler - Jammy Smears. Ivor Cutler - Ludo.
Wow, Tabby, the only other person ever to post something from the irrepressible Ivor Cutler, as far as I know.
I have posted these two in the past, and got no reaction whatsoever, so I thought, "It's just me, then".
Well done that man, there's hope for the world yet!
Now playing........
Brian Blade & The Fellowship Band - Season of Changes
Brian Blade (drums), Jon Cowherd (piano, pump organ, Moog, Wurlitzer), Kurt Rosenwinkel (guitar), Myron Walden (alto saxophone, bass clarinet), Melvin Butler (tenor saxophone) and Chris Thomas (bass).
Streaming on NAS............ following up with another Brian Blade album, this is one sweet band! .......and sounding mighty fine this morning.......

The Christmas tree is proper rocking and wobbling...
