What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Clive B posted:“Very fierce stuff” - a rather good description!
This, which I've just put on (double vinyl) is even fiercer Clive:

Return to Ommadawn
Mike Oldfield having another crack at it 42 years on. He should have left well alone, it does nothing whatsoever to improve upon or enhance the fine original 1975 Ommadawn.

I’ve steered clear of that one so far, Kevin. On The Corner is probably fierce enough for my ears currently, but I’d never say never, especially with Miles.
Bought 2nd hand off eBay, this is an album I've always wanted but never owned - arrived just in time for Christmas and now playing on vinyl. Production is excellent, a nice early Christmas pressie for my LP12!
Leonard Cohen - Recent Songs - vinyl
Beautiful interplay of voices and instruments. This was one of his come backs. I’m a recent convert.
Now it reminds me of a Camino lunch stop where the cafe owner in Villafranca del Bierzo is a big fan and even had a photo with LC.

Tori Amos - To Venus and Back
Little played chez Christophe. I thought I'd put that right.
Miles Davis - On the Corner
Just checking after my exchange with Kevin, above. Yes, I can confirm that this is rather fierce listening too, but I think you just have to go with the groove. Certainly nothing like Kind of Blue or even Bitches Brew, which is considered pretty avant garde by some.
Vinyl released 2018 - A nice one. ????
Rolling Stones - Still Life
Riff-tastic live Stones from 82 tour.
(1974)
Apostrophe (')
One of Frank's finest, weird, wacky different and inventive as ever.
Rebecca McDade - To Call Home - WAV CD rip
Young Scottish folkie, living in the US. Lovely voice, good playing with a great sense of motion and drive in the music, nice observational lyrics, well worth a listen. This was last night’s listening, after a night out with colleagues including Rebecca McDade’s aunt on Wednesday I couldn’t handle anything other than gentle folk played at low volume last night.
Led Zeppelin - IV - WAV CD rip from the SHM boxset
Tonight’s start, LOUD. Never need an excuse to listen to Zep, I never cease to be amazed just how well they interplayed, and great songs.
The 2018 version on vinyl, acquired earlier today. Listening to the "Ninth Wave" side - and wow, everyone who's praised this master is right I think. It sounds lovely (and it's not just the 250 and S40s doing this, which I didn't have last time I listened to HoL), so much power and clarity.
OK so its time to play the albums purchased with this time of year in mind

This is even better, Chris.
1981 bootleg and SQ is rather good.
Playing now.
Patti Smith Group - Easter
Why? Because the night....
Joan Baez - 75th Birthday Celebration - WAV CD rip
Joan at 75, with simple acoustic backing and a range of friends guesting. Worth it for the duet with Croz on Blackbird alone, there’s also a duet with Emmylou on Hard Times which is beautiful and possibly even better. Lovely folk songs sung by one of the greats, her voice hasn’t got the crystal purity of 50 years before, but for me is even more beautiful.
Getting festive with the BNL boys.
Christmas will be digital only after saying goodbye to the LP12 pending the delivery of the replacement deck in the New Year
Joan Baez - 75th Birthday celebration CD 2 - WAV CD rip
Couldn’t resist moving to the second disk, more beautiful songs and wonderfully by Baez and her friends.
Vinyl released 2014 - Sticking with the Xmas cheer with this fine album. ????
This is the nice thing with Tidal, I don’t think that this is for me, but I can free of charge listen to it as much as I want, if it grows on me I can always can get a local copy in high res...
This is a guy to watch, I have three albums from him now and they are all good. Nice full sound as well.....
Madonna - Confessions on a Dance Floor - CD
Mine has a parental guidance label on the case. Well it’s a very good work out for you and your system.
