Aphex T.    Selected Ambient works Vol. 2

Stretching over two decades, these recordings have vividly displayed the pianist’s remarkable talent, which was exceptional at the start of this period in his career and has developed superbly. As this release’s title indicates, this compilation presents examples from some of these albums although they do not cover all the years – the first track is from 1995, the last from 2003.

BOY !

just a few days after this flew in and I am fully in love (aand swear the cover picture only has a minor part in my love). What an inspired bunch of musicians, crowned by Melody Gardot‘s multi lingual singing. And her voice ! And the communication with the various European audiences. CD of the year, already.

MAN !

Studying the album cover closely, I think she’s playing an ES335.

I have frequently posted that album. It is, after all, one of the finest rock albums of all time.

She is very talented, as is her band.  I was seriously impressed at the professionalism of all of them when I saw her live.

StoneyB & Grandpa Elliott an album called French Quarter. A really good feel good electric blues album

StoneyB used to play with Buddy Guy at one point in his career along with a whole host of Chicago blues acts.

Eric Bibb and JJ Milteau - Lead Belly's Gold.

A mix of live and studio tracks, this is another mellow blues album from Eric's band, together with French harp player JJ Milteau.

(2009)

Shpongle - Electroplasm

More rather wonderful tripped out stuff from the ever reliable and inventive Mr. Posford, this great album starts off really hot and heavy with strong Goan influences (obviously).

Now Playing......

Mary Chapin Carpenter - Between Here and Gone

Mary Chapin Carpenter - Between Here and Gone

Streaming on NAS.......   after Come On Come ON I ran some errands and returning home I needed to listen to more of Mary's voice. On the opening track on Between Here and Gone, she covers a Johnny Cash song, "Still Miss Someone" and the her voice & acoustic guitar are just fantastic.  Looking forward to her new album release in March.

One of my favourite Johnny Rawls soul tinged blues albums.
