On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
And then a brilliant album of the man I would have seen the 2nd time live in my life, hadn’t he turned sick. So now enjoying his recording...

Oooooh! Mooie! Prettige Kerstdag, Bert.
Steeleye Span - Below the Salt - WAV CD rip from the bargain Chrysalis Albums boxset
Following Ewemon in listening to this for Gaudete, it always surprises me when I listen to this, Maddy’s voice and intonation was old-school folkie here, as was much of the playing. More trad than folk-rock, unlike the later band.

I must play some of mine, and I have most of them from the beginning.
Phil
Jos van Veldhoven & The Netherlands Bach society - Christmas oratorio
Bach's beautiful Christmas cantatas.
Wayne Shorter - Schizophrenia
Excellent post-bop playing as one would expect from Wayne Shorter in 1967.
Bobbie at the Beeb, from the brilliant TGFCC box:
Dexter Gordon - Candlelight Lady
Another excellent album of Dexter Gordon on the Steeplechase label.
- Bass – Mads Vinding
- Drums – Ed Thigpen
- Piano – Kenny Drew
- Tenor Saxophone – Dexter Gordon
It's nearly Xmas so I'm going to reat myself to my favourite Eno album, on a lovely-sounding 1983 vinyl pressing.
Disc 1 of this amazing triple album
Carol Kidd: the Night we Called it a Day. 1990, Linn Records, vinyl.
A superbly recorded, beautifully sung mellow selection of jazz greats. An aural massage.
First Aid Kit - Ruins
CD rip. One of my 2018 favourite albums.
Cat Stevens - Tea For The Tillerman
24/96 Flac
Tete Montoliu - Tete!
- Bass – Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen
- Drums – Albert 'Tootie' Heath*
- Piano – Tete Montoliu
On Vinyl
Probably my favourite Bruce Springsteen album.
Beginning of this album is quite good, the last part is less good...
Enrico Pieranunzi & Art Farmer - Isis
- Alto Saxophone – Massimo Urbani
- Bass – Furio Di Castri
- Drums – Roberto Gatto
- Flugelhorn – Art Farmer

The 1991 Japanese CD version of Closer, IMO the best sounding digital version of this album.
Melody Gardot - Live in Europe
Another favourite release of 2018. Less treble more bass innit bruv.

Very clever.

Outstanding
Another one of the great-sounding 1991 Nippon Columbia Joy Division CDs - this time Unknown Pleasures.
