On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:

Playing Led Zep IV from this most marvellous collection ............. and no, it's not my imagination, they sound GREAT!
Don't know why this should be, but don't care .................. rock on.
Yes, Dave. That's the box-set I have. Beautifully presented, too. Prior to getting it I had tried many LZ CDs and various remasters and all of them left me feeling underwhelmed, especially compared to vinyl. When I got this set I felt that I had at last got my Led Zep back. I was well chuffed.

Is that a five-disc version of In Through The Out Door? Or is it just all the various covers which were hidden behind the brown paper bags?
Clive - the box set has ten albums plus 5 alternate sleeves for In Through the Out Door , which I think you can see on the right of the picture posted by Dave. Mine's also got an alternative orange ink cover for LZ1, which I think you can see at the back of the middle row.

Menahem Pressler- Mozart 23 &27. after playing it 3x today it becomes top contender as my record of the year. Highly recommended!
Rachel Grimes - The Clearing
With thanks to Seakayaker and Massimo, and others who have enthused about this album.
Led Zeppelin II, original vinyl.
Playing loud, still one of the greatest rock albums.
This evening so far
Marcus Bonfanti - Shake the Walls
Shelby Moorer - I Am Shelby Lynne
Basia - London Warsaw New York

Lizz Wright singing "Thank You" ^ led, inevitably, to this .................. and these SHM CD's really are the dog's dangly bits.
I've go to agree the SHMs really are the dog's undercarriage.
Yep. The boxset of those Zep albums has been one of the best music investments I've made. Think it was Kevin-W who steered me to it some way back.
Yes, that box set is brilliant (love the precise miniature reproductions of the original LP sleeves and the meticulous attention to detail).
As far as I know the masters used are just the bogstandard early 1990s Jimmy Page ones - but these are the best-sounding Zep CDs I have ever heard, beating the 80s Diaments, the 90s Pages and the most recent Pages. Odd really...
CD - BFM Jazz 2010 : )
Steve Gadd - drums
Joey Defrancesco - hammond B3 organ, trumpet
Ronnie Cuber - baritone saxophone
Paul Bollenbech - guitar
Edie Brickell - vocals (bonus tracks 9 & 10)
Recorded 17th November 2009 at Voce Restaurant, Scottsdale, Arizona

I agree, Kevin, and am still grateful to you for drawing my attention to this set.
Mike
Arvo Pärt, Tabula Rasa, original vinyl.
Complete change of style for the last music before bed, just playing the 2nd side, the title piece. A piece of music I’ve loved since ECM brought out this album and introduced Pärt’s music to the West, superbly played by Kremer and the others, this is spiritually uplifting music.

It's just the covers, as, in the interests of accuracy, the original album came in five random covers.
Been a bit of a Zep evening chez Dave ............... and why not?
It does seem as though there's much love on here for the Japanese SHM CD boxset ............... we all love it, but it can't just be me who's still a wee bit baffled as to why it should sound so damn good?
It's allegedly all about the plastic, ............. one of life's mysteries, but, who really cares?
It's all good.
1990 - UK first pressing..
All this talk of LZ, led me to listen to their children, Dread Zeppelin. Zep, Elvis and reggae all rolled into one and they sound rather spiffing.
Tony, if you like that, try this
Dread Zeppelin - Re-Led-Ed, the best of.
...................... and if you like that ................ try this.
Easy Star All-Stars - Dub Side Of The Moon.
Just like the Dread Zep albums, these are completely mental, and though some prior familiarity with the original albums is
beneficial, these are an absolute hoot.

Easy Star’s Lonely Hearts Dub Band is also very worth a listen.

Annie Lennox - Medusa
Streaming on NAS........ returning from a 2+ hour Sunday Afternoon walk with the missus, time to kick off the walking shoes, put up the feet and turn up the volume. Decided on Annie Lennox's Medusa, which has a fine cover of Procol Harum's 'A Whiter Shade of Pale. Annie is sounding fantastic!
Morris On (Island, HELP-5, 1972). Enjoying this record a lot, so will be on the hunt for “Son of” and “Grandson of”.
Now Playing.......
Annie Lennox - The Annie Lennox Collection
Streaming on TIDAL....... Annie's 'Medusa' sounded wonderful and wanted to keep her beat and beautiful & strong voice flowing, she is sounding fantastic!

Bonnie Raitt - Silver Lining
Streaming on NAS......... A random pick from the NAS of an album I have not played for quite awhile.......
An early one (1985) full of energy:

Van Morrison - Veedon Fleece
Streaming on TIDAL....... I played this the other day and enjoyed it quite a bit, so out for another spin, it would be nice to see this album released once again.
ewemon posted:joerand posted:Neil Young. Eponymous solo debut (1968). On early re-issued vinyl from 1970. A fantastic album that commands attention for it's gritty artistry.
Is that the original version that came out or the latest remixed version that is part of his archives series?
No ewe, not the original vinyl, rather the early re-issue, remixed version (1972) per my post and the picture I posted. The original LP did not have "Neil Young" above the photo on the cover; that's the telling clue for US releases. I hope to stumble across an original one day during my used vinyl diggings. Even if in marginal condition I'd grab it for a reasonable price just to hear the difference between the two mixes. Cheers!
Now Playing.......
Van Morrison - Versatile
Van Morrison (vocals, alto saxophone), Paul Moore (bass), Mez Clough (drums), Jeff Lardner (drums), James Galway (flute), Chris White (flute, tenor saxophone), Dave Keary (electric guitar), Paul Moran (keyboards, trumpet), Rod Quinn (percussion), Robbie Ruggiero (percussion), Jay Berlinger (Spanish guitar), and Alistair White (trombone).
Streaming on TIDAL....... Going with another Van Morrison album, this one released December 1, 2017. Van going with his strong vocals with lots of wonderful musicians backing him up! A fun album......
