Steve Hillage

This is the first time in my life that I listen to a Steve Hillage album, halfway through the album and I like what I am hearing, classic seventies prog rock.

The more I play this the more I like it.......and since it's a double-album the fun lasts twice as long

Interesting: the more I play it the less I like it. It just seems detached and unengaging. Maybe I need to try harder...

Well, I'm probably pre-disposed towards liking this because (a) I like all her albums and, perhaps even more, (b) I saw her perform live not that long ago and much of what I hear on this album reminds of that wonderful performance. Indeed, some of the songs from the second CD were recorded at the London performance I attended.  If you ever get to see her perform, Nigel, do take up the chance. I was thoroughly 'wowed' not only by her but the wonderful musicians that support her.

 Prince - The Truth.

Finally managed to capture this hard to find CD today, now ripped and playing via my now obsolete NDS.

His Purpleness goes acoustic, and, IHMO, this is up there with his best.

Hi Dave

Agree with your assessment of this little known album, did you aquire it seperately or as I did hidden away as part of the four disc "Crystal Ball" set which I was lucky to pick up whilst in America?

Wings  - London Town

Eric Clapton  - Old Sock

and presently spinning Soul Shadows by Paul Carrack

Chainsmokers: Memories - Do Not Open. Track 7: It Won't Kill Ya. The bass could be considered to be the embodiment of demonic possesion. It is so close to perfection it makes me happy to be alive.

Elvis Costello - Mighty Like A Rose

The first record I spied when I went to the cupboard. Perfect.

I enjoy both Chris and John, both wonderful musicians, but find them to be two different styles of music. John more country rock and Chris more straight up country.

Chris is one hell of a song writer and was writing songs for others before his 2015 solo debut album 'Traveler' was named Country Album of the Year. Chris was on the NPR Tiny Desk series in November 2015 which can be seen here: https://www.npr.org/event/musi...on-tiny-desk-concert

He sings, "More Of You," "When The Stars Come Out," and "Whiskey And You" and his wife accompanied him on a couple of the songs.

You can't go wrong listening to either one......

It is indeed a very fine album. Play it again - it gets under your skin! For your next venture I'd possibly recommend Live Herald. It may be live, but the SQ is excellent. If you're more keen on studio albums, I really like Fish Rising and Motivation Radio.

Hi Alan,

I'd been listening to this via Tidal, and was completely wowed by it, but the price the CD is fetching is totally over the top, whether the "Crystal Ball" set, or even just this, "The Truth" CD.

I was a very happy bunny earlier this week to be able to find "The Truth" over on Fleabay, from a seller who specialises in Prince rarities at much more sensible prices, and have now jumped in on a further six hard to find albums from him.

Nice one Dave  sounds interesting ,I look forward to your "reviews" once you've had time to digest them.I appreciate Prince and have around 20 albums but was blown away by "The Truth" as it seems quite unique in his discography .Looking at your posts over the years I am sure you enjoy it like me when he straps on an electric and lets it rip .I feel in general he did not get the praise his guitar playing deserved.Anyway enjoy!

Doesn’t sound like a devil quartet, quite laid back...

Pink Floyd - Meddle (1971) - Remastered CD (1991)

Got this and The Division Bell from Oxfam yesterday (£3.99 each). The 252 I am demoing is still warming up, but is beginning to sound good late on Friday as everyone else turns off their electric. Probably going to be at least another week before it’s doing modern music as well as the 282. I like the easy going variety (or is this the psychedelic influence!) on this album which had no theme. Hence the name Meddle.

552 demo in about a week.
