On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:

Finishing off my evening with one of their finest.
Now Playing......
Donald Fagen - The Nightfly
Streaming on NAS........ A random pick, scanning the album lists in the queue and Donald's Nightfly album caught my attention. The first 'I.GY.' certainly brought an instant smile.....love the familiar, Donald is sounding mighty fine!

While watching the Led Zep-fest on here a few days ago, I promised myself a dose of two.
Check out the Greta Van Fleet topic, elsewhere in the Music Room .............. they're not half bad.
Rock on!
That Greta Van Fleet CD is damn good.

That Greta Van Fleet CD is damn good.
Listened to it via Tidal earlier this afternoon, and it certainly does rock.
As Nick Lees asks, over on the dedicated thread, "where does all that voice come from?"

Nothing like a bit of head-banging, Chris
1968 - Vinyl - UK first (mono) pressing...
Earlier this evening, great album...
Requires a bit more effort to appreciate......, I rather hear the later standards trio....
After some Led Zep blasting it's time for some quieter waters. This album and artist is still very new to me and I'm finding it quite delightful.

Good innit!
Just a bit, Nigel. Thank you very much.
Mike
Just ordered this and Nerina Pallot’s Stay Lucky. I reckoned I would have to wait a long time for these to appear in my Oxfam shop. Was this a good place to start?

Greta van Fleet - From the Fires - Tidal
Having missed the original post, spotted the comments today, giving them a stream. Enjoying to a lot, very Zep derivative, but the singer has great pipes and the band are impressive,y good, well worth a listen.
Now Playing........
John Hiatt - Same Old Man
John Hiatt (vocals, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, electric guitar, 6 string bass, harmonium), Lilly Hiatt (vocal harmony), Patrick O'Hearn (bass), Kenneth Blevins (drums), Luther Dickerson (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, guitar resonator, mandolin)
Streaming on TIDAL....... Mixing it up this afternoon..... Time for some of John's fine songs, guitar playing and band.
1969 - Vinyl - UK first pressing.
Ese and the Vooduu People - Dynamite, WAV download.
My CD copy arrived today, thanks Kevin. Second listen, I was impressed the first time through, even more so this time, it’s a grower. The band have serious groove and drive, and the singer has one hell of a voice. Groovy bluesy rock, well worth a listen. Fairytale is my fave this time around, but it’s just one fine song in a strong set.
Fink - Wheels Turn Beneath My Feet.
Still re-imagining recently attended gigs with this one from Fink, which happens to be one of the best recorded live albums ever,
with the band really present in the room.
Nighty night.
Just venturing onto the Ozric's second album, Tantric Obstacles. First listen and it's another which has addiction potential. This band is proving to be a great new discovery.

This is on my buy list. This week I bought the 'Vitamin Enhanced' set which is very good too.
Now playing........
Roger Waters - Is This The Life We Really Want
Streaming on TIDAL........ ......this has been in the queue for awhile and finally taking this album out for a spin.
Melissa Etheridge - Brave and Crazy, original U.K. vinyl
At some point today You Used to Love to Dance got stuck in my head, so before bed I thought I’d listen to this. Still love this album, Melissa Etheridge is a superb singer, capable of tender numbers and also powerful belting vocals and everything in between. A fine band, and a set of varied songs from tender numbers like my ear worm through to belting rockers makes this an album I’ve enjoyed for about 30 years.
Songs as performed in the motion picture Easy Rider, 1987 UK vinyl
About as late ‘60s as an album can be, Steppenwolf’s Born to be Wild, Jimi’s If six was nine, Roger McGuinn doing It’s alright Ma and Ballad of Easy Rider, and more, from the great road movie. A slightly compressed pressing, but 30 seconds into the first track (Steppenwolf’s Pusher) I stop noticing, and by track 2 Born to be Wild I’m just rocking along. Maybe If You want to be a Bird by the Holy Modal Rounders can drag me out of the vibe (man), but overall a great late 60s counter-culture album.
Now Playing.......
Linda Allen - Washington Notebook (New Songs of the Northwest)
Streaming on TIDAL........ taking out an obscure local album with 19 songs sung by local musicians. First two tracks are pleasant, folk music would be the best description at this point. So time to sit back and listen and relax.......
The Black Crowes-Southern Harmony and Musical Companion
Genesis - Foxtrot
No 6 on prog's greatest 100
