On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:

Bought from Oxfam for £2.99 - not their premium price. I think this album is a bit demanding on the system and was pretty much unlistenable when the demo 252 was newly installed. It’s very full of sound, but it is really quite good at a lower volume (8 o’clock). The lyrics are very good and there is a lot of beauty to the music. Maybe some of the classics got drummed into this ex Charthouse public school band!
Opinions on best Genesis albums from the various eras very welcome. Who is the lead singer of this trio?
Did anyone ever see the show man (Peter Gabriel) perform with them?
Phil
Hi Phil
Spookily I bought Wind&Wutherimg today for 99p from our local British Heart Foundation shop and very fine it sounds too as it is an early copy,I believe this is from the Phil Collins era but my first stab at their still progressive period

Genesis - Wind and Wuthering (1976)
Hi Alan
Playing this one now on TIDAL! Good to get an early one at a bargain price!
So far I prefer this to Nursery Cryme.

What!?!? As John McEnroe would say “You cannot be serious!” More listening to Nursery Cryme required, me thinks.
Freddie Hubbard - Blue Spirits
The last release from Freddie Hubbard on the Blue Note label. From 1966.

Humble apologies, Jedi Clive! Maybe I need a 552 Light Saber to fully appreciate it!

Very strange album but brilliant in its own way, first time ever listen to this artist.

The Killers: Sam's Town. 16-bit CD Rip.
For me, their best album to date.
(1994)
Mary Chapin Carpenter - Stones In The Road
Some country to take my mind off the snow storm.
R L Burnside - Mississippi Hill Country Blues.
Acoustic country blues from the late, great, R L Burnside.
A great starting place for anyone wanting hear an alternative to amplified Chicago blues ............... a cracking album.

I think this is the last of the progressive era Genesis. Although ‘And Then There Were Three’ is passable, after that it was more aimed at commercial success. All IMHO, of course.
Try Foxtrot though. That is a true prog tour de force.

If it hasn't already been mentioned I would also recommend Trespass (1970) as being well worth a listen.
Iamthemoring, Lighthouse.
I came home early from work, put some food out for the wild Birds and while watching them thought this is the perfect album.
Beth Nielsen Chapman
Sand And Water - Tidal HiFi
First time listening to Beth, halfway through album and it is growing on me, will give more of Beth’s albums a listen.

An 11-track CD and book package from musician Paul Isherwood and writer Wayne Burrows:
(2003)
Lucinda Williams - World Without Tears
Now Playing.......
Silje Nergaard - For You A Thousand Times
Streaming on TIDAL....... Released in October 2017 and taking it out for another spin, two tracks in and sounding mighty fine, a sweet voice........
Oceans Of Slumber, Winter.
Progressive Doom Metal is a Very brief description of this band. If you don't mind some Dirty vocals and love some good strong melodic female vocals this is worth checking out, this album is quite something.
This Genesis talk has led me to play this. Side two first, maybe.
The Silkroad Ensemble - The Vietnam War
Streaming via Tidal
