On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:

Have to admit, that I'm playing DB's Berlin trilogy more and more these days, although via the first issue ripped CDs - must investigate the HD remasters!
King Crimson - King Crimson - TIDAL
Another step exploring prog rock! Interesting in a good way. Great Voice.

Bill Evans - At the Montreux jazz festival
With Jack DeJohnette on drums and Eddie Gomez on bass.
It’s always good when there is a new album from Tracey Thorn.
The mighty Broadcast, and their third album, from 2005. The late and much-missed Trish Keenan's voice and elliptical lyrics emerges from an electronic haze... love it. On vinyl.
I see a ‘farewell tour’ is planned this year. It’s worth reading the Wiki entry on Skynyrd for a ‘Spinal Tap’ beating history of rock n’ roll lifestyle cliches of tragi-comedy proportions!
The classiscs are, well, classics though.

2014 - vinyl...
Original UK vinyl. Broadcast's stunning 2000 debut album, The Noise Made By People, contains five bona fide classics in "Echo's Answer", "Come On Let's Go", "You Can Fall", "City In Progress" and "Papercuts". There doesn't seem to be a lot of love for this remarkable group on these forums, but if anyone wants to explore, this debut is probably the best place to start. Broadcast often get lumped in with Sterolab - they once shared a label and both have female singers - but whereas the 'Lab's primsry influences are Krautrock and French/continental pop, Broadcast's influences take in avant-electronica, David Axelrod, The Residents, John Barry, library music, Tindersticks and psychedelia...

Another run...
Playing David Bowie 'Low' after Kevin W recommended it. This is from CD ripped to NS01, streamed through NDS. I think this might be only its second or third play (and only the second or third time I've heard it) but I'm quite enjoying it currently. I thought it was more instrumental, but it's playing Sound and Vision right now, which I recognise, of course.
Great album from Lee Scratch Perry from 1997 on Island Records - One Step Foward is fabulous - Playing on Cassette ( TDK AD -X )
Sibelius piano trio
A Rainbow in Curved Air , Terry Riley. Original Vinyl 1971
A glorious piece of minimalism. Recommended to listeners of Prog rock.

Last bit of Broadcast - a collection of early EPs and singles - before listening to, er, another broadcast (of the Swans v Irons game, on TalkShite 2). UK vinyl.
APC-Mer de Noms
This Naim album gets better and better with repeated listening and €13 for a 24bit download is a steal for this kind of quality;
Art Blakey - Moanin. This version is a CD copy which hasn't been remastered by RVG. Still sounds superb. Great music.

It's my second favourite album from DB, and one that always reminds me of snowbound days stuck in my bedroom while the New England winter did its worst. Funnily enough both my original UK and Canadian copies have both had recent play since the the great UK freeze.
Dean Martin - This time I a'm swinging.
Time to go back to 1960 for some swining music.
Suzanne Vega’s self-titled debut album, original U.K. vinyl.
I suspect I’m going to be spending today listening to music I spotted on the OGWT retrospective show. I love this album, Vega’s an intelligent songwriter, and there are some very fine songs here. Marlene on the Wall was a big hit, and still gives me pleasure, other standouts in the album for me include Queen and the Soldier, and Neighbourhood Girl. Clever lyrics, lovely tunes, well played and sung, this album put her into the cadre of intelligent American songwriter performers,
Solo album from the Iamthemorning pianist
Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick, vinyl
One for [@mention:66047985346995680] to add to his exploration of prog, Tull were an eccentric hybrid of prog rock and folk rock, with the charismatic Ian Anderson capering in stage providing vocals and flute, Martin Barre a masterful lead guitarist. This is a concept album of one song across 2 sides of vinyl, musically interesting and lyrics that range from intelligently thought provoking to the worryingly weird. Probably not the best intro to Tull for Phil, try Aqualung as a starting place.
