What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
I've been her latest Live in Europe album quite a lot lately so this evening I thought I would remind myself of how good some of her older studio albums are so chose this one. It's a peach, alright.
Neil Diamond
The Very Best of Neil Diamond - CD Rip

Started off the day in a jazz vein and after Tony mentioned Bessie Smith last night I turned to a classic Songs For Distingue Lovers from Billie Holiday as to my shame I don' have a Bessie Smith album.Followed by Kenny Burrell and Midnight Blue and then Cool Struttin' by Sonny Clark on the XRCD format.Change of scene next with Hiding from the great Albert Lee which then lead me to another guitar great Albert King with King of the Blues Guitar on which he is backed by the one and only Booker T & The MGs

If there's one thing a Linn LP12-fronted Naim system renders exceptionally well, it's the sound of flatulence echoing around a toilet bowl...
Roger Waters' first solo outing (the soundtrack to a documentary film) from 1970, on UK vinyl from the late '70s.
Although he gets equal billing, it's more Ron Geesin's record than Roger's. RG's contributions are typically offbeat and amusing; Roger's are, as one might expect, downbeat and full of despairing, apocalyptic finger wagging. Lyrically and musically they're not bad, but his singing on these tracks is prissy. His co-writes with Ron are better, and the two obviously had a good time putting the bio-music elements together.
The closing track, "Give Birth To a Smile", features uncredited performances from the other members of Pink Floyd plus soulful backing singers.
An anomaly in the canon, but one which proves Big Rog has a sense of humour (sometimes). It's also better than Radio KAOS.
Simply because I haven't listened to this for a couple of years
