What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Pat Martino, Live at Yoshi's. Classy Wes-inspired guitar.
Rodriguez. Searching For Sugar Man. On CD from 2012. The movie itself is an incredible tale of a genuine artist. One of those truth is stranger than fiction stories, or perhaps a real-life fairy tale. After running across various parts of the movie on TV during the past year I finally got the story in total last week and ordered the CD which arrived today. I'm happily on my third successive listen. Musically, Rodriguez is right in my wheel house; late-60's folk rock with a wonderful studio sonic from that era. The parallels to Dylan are obvious in Rodriguez' lyrics, cadence and style. I also hear the likes of Donovan, Arlo Guthrie, Don McLean, and Jim Croce in his vocals and songwriting. Brilliant lost music resurrected some 40+ years after it was originally recorded.
Tina Turner - Private Dancer - Vinyl
Played this last night - the first time in a while. Always a favourite of mine, and very moving in the way she sings about being a private dancer. A leader in her way on a serious subject of which in the wider sense she had first hand experience. I’ve listened to a double CD of her best, but it doesn’t match the intensity of this album.
Phil
Now playing Emerson Lake & Palmer - Trilogy
Alan
Followed by The Beatles and the Giles Martin mixes from the 1+ Blu Ray /CD set.Not every one works but I enjoy the 65/66 singles especially.
Alan
Now playing........
Anouar Brahem - The Astounding Eyes of Rita
Streaming on NAS........ Something familiar and something beautiful..... Love the opening track, "The Lover of Beirut," simply wonderful! Great way to kick off this Wednesday morning......
Anthony Wilson trio - Our gang
- Anthony Wilson - guitar
- Joe Bagg - organ
- Mark Feber - drums
Anthony Wilson is probably best known for accompanying Diane Krall. But he has also released some albums under his own name. On this album he trio plays some fine straight ahead jazz.
Paul & Linda McCartney - Ram .This album always features in heavy rotation which is quite ironic as put off by the poor initial reviews I did not purchase until after Band On The Run.Superbly mastered ( plenty of tape hiss ) as part of the McCartney Archive Collection its sometimes bonkers but always melodic
Alan
Grigory Sokolov - Beethoven piano sonatas 4 & 28
Nice Compilation album by The Byrds - Loads of out takes and alternative versions of songs.
Playing on Vinyl on Murray Hill records
(1971)
Family - Fearless
Ripped from an original Castle label CD and sounding fine, I've not heard this for years.
Genesis - ... and then there were three ... CD (1994 new mix 2007)
Playing this on the demo 552 DR that arrived an hour ago. Already the equal of the 282/SuperCap DR. As my dealer says this CD and others from Genesis really bloom on good HiFi. Now I need to wait another few days for it to really warm up. I’ll post on the other thread about 282 regrets.
Phil
BB King & Friends - 80 a top notch group of mates helping out the maestro in his 80th year
Alan
(1969)
Groundhogs - Blues Obituary
Coming up to fifty years old next year, some lovely old British blues rock with some fine lead guitar work from Tony McPhee interlaced through the tracks.
On CD:-
Duran Duran - Greatest
On CD:-
Tina Turner - Foreign Affair
(1991)
Savoy Brown - Raw Sienna
Not their strongest album but their standards and levels are so high that this is still a really good album from the British blues rock boys.
Derek & The Dominos - Layla and Other Assorted Love Somgs , with Key to the Highway a particular favourite

Should have added that the credit on the album cover has always amused me:
"This album is to all the people who have pulled strokes for or against us, for they shall be called fearless."
An album and artist still quite new to me and I'm very pleased that through others on here I've discovered it, as witnessed by the number of plays its getting.

Good stuff, Phil. At risk of distracting from the music thread, my dealer warned me that even a fully run in 552DR would take about five days to properly warm up from cold before it would show what it is really capable of. He was spot on, to the day, so be patient.

A Japanese import double album covering key tracks from Trespass to And Then There Where Three

That's my experience too, Mike, although sometimes I'm sure it takes even longer.
