What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Freddie Hubbard - Ready for Freddie
Classic bebop jazz from the golden era from Blue Note. This is one of Freddie Hubbard finest, imo.
- Freddie Hubbard - trumpet
- Bernard McKinney - euphonium
- Wayne Shorter - tenor sax
- McCoy Tyner - piano
- Art Davis - bass
- Elvin Jones - drums
A Sundazed vinyl reissue from 1999, complete with a bonus track. Amazing how much in thrall to The Beatles and Dylan they were then...
Cheers Kev,
You have made me get this on their.... country classic album with Gram Parsons. So many great tracks.Playing on Vinyl on Colombia Records
Kevin-W posted:Early 1980s UK vinyl. I just fancied hearing it. It's an album stuffed full of classics...
Now they were cool
A trio of refreshing creativity. Somsen is a rising Dutch bassist who has been playing with some of the best and teaching in several conservatories of The Netherlands. This second volume was recorded on the fly in six hours following the first album for the greatest work of improvisation. The bass and drums’ lines are well defined, in great symbiosis with the piano play on this 24/88 WAV downloaded from the buz. ????

The Hoax - Live Forever
I've been gagging to play this since it first arrived the other day for a good ripping. What an absolute blast of very heavy blues rock recorded live, everything I had hoped this album would be. Well worth the wait while it cruised from Germany.

Hi Stevee, Thank you again for your prog rock suggestions. I bought the vinyl of this one at the Canal Trust Shop. It’s an impressive work that I think will grow on me a lot. I also got Works Vol 1.
Although the SQ is amazing it has a noticeable warp that actually can’t be heard. Is it likely to reduce its value much? I paid for NM media and VG+ sleeve.
Phil
Hi Philip, As I mentioned the other day I haven't (unfortunately) bought, sold or used any vinyl at home for 30+ years. If your copy of this with its warp isn't affecting replay and it sounds fine to you then thats all good. If you were unaware that it was warped when you bought it from Canal Trust Shop I guess you could have a case for returning it although its probably a case of caveat emptor. Personally speaking (unless you paid silly money for it) I would keep it because you say it is playing fine. Being warped will have an affect on its value but I don't imagine you're looking at selling it on are you?

Ernie Henry - Last chorus
Ernie Henry was a promising alto saxophonist who passed away prematurely on December 29, 1957, when he was only 31. He had recorded his album Seven Standards and a Blues on September 30, and four songs for an uncompleted octet date on September 23. This CD reissue has the latter tunes (which feature trumpeter Lee Morgan; trombonist Melba Liston, who contributed "Melba's Tune"; tenor saxophonist Benny Golson; and pianist Wynton Kelly), an alternate take from the Seven Standards set ("Like Someone in Love"), a leftover track from the preceding year ("Cleo's Chant"), the solos of Thelonious Monk and Henry (from the lengthy "Ba-Lue Bolivar Ba-Lues-Are"), and an alternate version of "S'posin'" taken from the altoist's final recording (a quartet outing with trumpeter Kenny Dorham). Overall, the music is fine and, surprisingly, does not have an unfinished air about it. It does make one wish that Ernie Henry had taken better care of his health, as he was just beginning to develop a sound of his own.
(2009)
Punchy stuff from the Ozrics sadly their recording SQ got more compressed as we got into the 90s, nevertheless for me this doesn't detract too much from the music they are making given the genre.
Their 5th album which was their first with all original material.
This is starting to grow on me. The version of "$20 Fine" with Steve Stills on organ and vocals is really good. Vinyl.

Hi Steve, Thanks. I always discuss returns when buying. Hard to know what is sensible to pay, particularly when CD VG+ go for £90 for a 1987 German manufactured double CD. I take in the discussion of the various Led Zepperlin issues and issues! Sad that life gets complicated, but I suppose it’s part the Naim Game. Reality check needed.
Hope I haven’t upset or bored anyone. Just trying to learn.

Following a post of this by Alfa4life I thought I'd give it play too. I'm one of those who like early Genesis and Phil Collins.
1st run after a nice weekend with ice skating...
I envy the UK members who do not have to watch Pritzker's political message (the billionaire is attempting to get elected Governor of Illinois without any previous experience in the cvil service) in the beginning of every music Youtube.
Now listening to disc 2 from this album. Pleased to say I witnessed the three London 2016 songs live. Fabulous concert it was too.
Earlier today The Police - Reggatta de Blanc and then
Eric Clapton and the self titled album from 1970.Playing the De Luxe Edition that features alternative takes ,jams and associated tracks recorded during the sessions.Proving again that the Delaney & Bonnie collective were fantastic musicians and EC was right to pinch some of them for his next venture.

Now playing Recurring Dream The Best of Crowded House ,well recorded melodic pop at its best,
Alan
Some great duelling between Verlaine and Lloyd here-
And as only Roon can do this led me here-
Interesting but possibly too reverential.

Also 1st run...
Aoife O’Donovan - Man in a New Coat, Live from Cambridge, Tidal
Spotted people playing her and thought I’d give it a go, lovely young singer songwriter. Intelligent lyrics, nice complex guitar lines, good band. It finishes with a lovely cover 9f Boulder to BIrmingham. I’ll see if I can get her CDs. Always nice to see the name Aoife, the only one I know with a higher percentage of vowels than mine (Eoin).
Stunning new (to me) album from Slowdive;
The Hoax - Humdinger, WAV CD rip
1st play of another Hoax CD, another belter. My third CD of theirs, and all 3 are just top-notch blues rock.
