On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Digital delights from a while back on this awesome label.
Ricardo has as good a touch in the studio as well as out in the field with two turntables, perhaps better in this ep..
(1972)
J.J. Cale - Really
I never like to be too far between playing any J.J., so setting this early one off and away to work its magic.
1991 - CD (rip)...
A great Howling Wolf double compilation album on Vinyl on Chess Records
What an excellent record this is. I’m amazed that this 1998 live recoding has stayed in the ECM vaults for so long. I economised by getting the standard res download, which still sounds fantastic. And there is even a song for the average Forum member...
2008 - CD (rip)...

J.J. Cale - Live At The Paradise Studios Los Angeles
A nice album from J.J. with a minus point or two because his voice mic' was either a little 'off' or too far away on a number of the early tracks. Good stuff though, with Leon Russell rolling his sleeves up and getting stuck in here and there.
Some gentle Suzanne Vega before dinner. Volume 1, Love Songs, from this box set:
Managed to squeeze in a bit of Norah Jones before dinner too.
Paul Jones on R2. Dave if you are reading this, tune in. He's playing stuff that's coming up at the Scarborough blues festival this weekend, if I heard him right.

Good shout Christopher, we've captured tickets and will be heading across to Scarborough over the weekend.
Emerson Lake & Palmer - Works (Vol 1) (1977) 2 LP
I am gradually working through my purchases from our local Canal Trust Shop. This has some stunning pieces on it. For me the incredibly beautiful Greg Lake love song C’est La Vie and their adaptation of Aaron Copeland’s Fanfare for the Common Man stand out. Keith Emerson’s Piano Concerto accompanied by the London Symphony Orchestra is a classical piece with 20th century idioms, and is noteworthy. The Works gives them the chance to display their solo talents as well as some piece by the band.
Highly recommended.

No particular reason other than wanting to get into some great ZZ stuff
Good evening (or good morning if you like) Ladies and Gents!
Ry Cooder - Pull Up Some Dust And Sit Down.
Following Tony's earlier Ry Cooder shout with this one ..................... even though it carries a political message, hey, it's great music,
and the track, "John Lee Hooker For President", is, quite simply, stunning. IMHO, of course.
2018 - Don Broco - Technology...
This landed on my lap this afternoon courtesy of a guy whose brother plays drums on the band. Brit post punk/nu-metal/pop.
Just finished The Rolling Stones - Stripped
Alan
Now spinning Eric Clapton - August.Yes this album is a bit slick and has that 80s vibe but there is still some fine music and musicianship
Alan

A good album is that, Dave, and with excellent re-production quality
A lady who's music is still fairly new to me.

I agree, the SQ on this one is excellent ........... some of his earlier albums were criticised for their SQ, but he seems to have gotten his act together here.
Wildwood Kin - Turning Tides WAV CD rip
1st play of this new arrival. Saw them playing in the 3 hour OGWT tribute a couple of weeks ago, the young act they had in the studio. Really enjoying it, folk with indie guitar sound would be my best description, nice songs, their voices harmonise beautifully, good musicianship. Well worth a listen. Another band I find through Whistle Test!
