Drikus,

Thanks for posting a better cover - very kind of you.

Enjoy Untitled its a good album - My favourite is Younger then Yesterday.

Have you any Bryds fav's ?

Cheers Ian

Hi Ian, never heard the Untitled album before but I've enjoyed it thoroughly, thx for putting it up.

Sweetheart of the Rodeo is my favourite album by them. A certain reviewer sums it up nicely here; "Combines the arrangements and lyrical topics of country, with the performances and intentions of rock and roll. Boy, are the results are something else!" Couldn't have said it better.

Drikus,

Yeah Sweetheart is a lovely record so many great songs - Gram Parsons sprinkled his magic on that one for sure.Seen loads of gigs over the years but one I would put right up there was about 20 years ago.It was Roger Mc Guinn doing a small UK solo tour.I was so lucky to see him upstairs in a small pub in Brighton. The venue held about 150 people and I always remember him opening with "You Ain't Going Nowhere" from Sweetheart of the Rodeo on acoustic guitar - it was absolutely magic and so intimate as I was standing 10 foot back and  seeing a legend (for me) in such a small venue....Wow !  Later he got his Rickenbacker out and gave the Byrds electric tracks a good going over.

Don't know if you have heard Gene Clarks solo albums ?   But worth checking out

Cheers Ian

Charlie Haden & Pat Metheny beyond the Missouri Sky

Charlie Haden & Pat Metheny beyond the Missouri Sky

Charlie Haden (bass) & Pat Metheny (acoustic guitar and all other instruments)

via CD player........   The last of the seven CD's that I purchased at Golden Oldies yesterday and taking out for a spin. I have listened this album via streaming a few time over the six months and kept an eye out for a used copy. A lovely album and perfect for this lazy Sunday afternoon!

The Rolling Stones  - Voodoo Lounge. As one of the later Stones albums that I enjoy, it is rather long in duration and I normally cull four or five tracks when listening to bring it in line with an old style vinyl release. I think most of the recent Stones albums suffer from this ,band politics perhaps?

I moved my phono equipment on a number of years ago but have found it a little harder to part with the vinyl.  A friend invited me over and asked me to bring some albums.  This was one of my choices .. I haven't heard this album in maybe 20 years .. recorded in 1971by Grunt Records.  Papa John makes the violin produce noises that are surreal.  A magnificent album .. check the list of co-conspirators who play with Mr. Creach.

This was another album I took over last night .. the first track "Downer" is an absolute blast.  Album was produced in 1972.  It's worth noting that the bassist on the album is named Clit McTorius;  I suspect that's a pseudonym.  Another 20 year gap since I last heard this one.

The second of today's arrivals, .......................  this one from a singer who's surely up there with Aretha, IMHO.

Barbara Streisand - Love Songs (1981) - Vinyl

She has an amazingly beautiful and powerful voice. This album is a compilation of previous releases with some new material. If you are of a certain age it will remind you of the many films and shows she starred in.
