What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Enjoying some Eddi Reader.
Got a couple of visitors round, who want to hear about the acts I've been involved with. So, the perfect excuse to play this CD:
(1970 | 2013)
Emerson Lake & Palmer.
This is the fine 2013 remaster of a classic prog rock album. It runs to two CD's with the seemingly obligatory bonus tracks and remixes of nicely cleaned up and enhanced material from the original album. For those that are concerned about remasters, this CD rip has IMHO improved on the original, it being less compressed than the early CDs and yet having more clarity, immediacy and air about it. Lovely.

Now Playing.......
John Hiatt - Slow Turning.......
Streaming on TIDAL....... A mention from GIANLUIGI MAZZORANA and EWEMON a couple of days ago reminded me to take 'Slow Turning' out for another spin. John does sound mighty fine!

Having enjoyed Abacab yesterday evening, I thought I'd play another Collins-era Genesis album.
Curry later?

Nice thought, Clive, and last night's curry was very nice. More mundane dinner this evening, I'm afraid.

The Decemberists - "I'll Be Your Girl" (2018)
On original vinyl that has the labels mixed up, side 2 on 1, etc.
Why? Went for Fleetwood Mac but saw this and realised it's not been played this Century...

As its introduced on the disc, "Now suitably chemicalised, Ozric Tentacles". Marvellous!

Yes, good stuff indeed!
Baxter Dury - Prince of Tears
Definitely a chip off the old block, say no more.
(1969)
Fine old British blues-rock from the Groundhogs with Tony McPhee doing his thing particularly well heading it all up on lead guitar.

That's a really good shout, Steve, this is an album I need to buy again, I used to play it a hell of a lot back in the day.

Moby - "Everything Was Beautiful, And Nothing Hurt" (2018)
Paul Jones on R2. Very much enjoying the slower second half.
I note that Ian Siegal (sp?) is playing at the Bowness Bay Blues at the weekend. Dave is going to be all Blues-ed out for 2018 and it's only March ;-)

Yup, heading up there at the weekend ............... Scarborough was pretty good too ............... oh, and seeing Eric Bibb locally next month ..............., not to mention the Strolling Bones at Manchester ................ phew!
This is Jakob Bro’s debut as leader on ECM, from 2006. An excellent, rather introspective album, with a cover perfect for today’s snowy weather.
Jan Garbarek, Legend of the Seven Dreams, original U.K. vinyl
I haven’t played this for years, not sure why, it’s hauntingly beautiful. Garbarek’s soprano sax is wonderfully atmospheric, the other musicians acting as equal partners. The album opens with the sprightly and superb He Comes From The North, my favourite on the album, others vary in tempo, but none are less than compelling. Nordic folk jazz I suppose I’d call it, or just great music making.
