On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.

Ordered last night, arrived today (thank you Amazon Prime) and my first play.
Oooh. I think I'm going to be playing this quite a bit.
My copy fell through the letterbox today, ripped and listening to it now. This is an example of when the CD (rip) sounds so much better than listening via Tidal, so much more expression, much better vocal quality. Wonderful stuff.

Yes it is a superb album.

The Allmans finest. I was lucky enough to see them in 1974 at Knebworth. An amazing day
The Brothers Allman greatly missed.

Probably the first of the more commercial albums, from 1989. I really like it and it gets a regular hearing here.

Bobbie Gentry - Fancy
Finally the package with two Bobbie Gentry SHM CDs arrived from Japan this morning, duly ripped and now getting a first play. Luverly
Steve, what do you reckon to the SQ of these? I am a fan of the two BG SHMCDs as you know...
Hi Kev, yes it was seeing your postings here about these two that tipped me into buying them. I no longer have any original CDs or vinyl to compare them with and using Tidal wouldn't make for a fair comparison. Having said that these flat transfers from the original 2 track analogue master tapes using 24/96 equipment sound fine to me, Fancy having the better SQ of the two which is probably down to the original recording quality or possibly the condition of the tapes rather than this transfer/remaster. I've had a couple of listens to them both now and am delighted that I went ahead and got them, both are nicely quiet and noise free. As an aside I never realised that Fancy was never released here in the UK, is that right?
Many thanks for flagging these up, I would luv them to transfer a few more of her albums onto SHM, I would be right in there. How are you enjoying her new BBC sessions vinyl?...

Broëkhuis, Keller & Schönwälder - Drei
Very fine Berlin School electronica that has a really good pulse and rhythm to it. The two track (55 minute) album was recorded live in Cologne (1998) and Bologna (2000).
Alan Jackson, turned up in the post this morning ripped and playing very nice.
Andrei Gavrilov - Bach: Goldberg variations
Andrei Gavrilov starts out good with a nice execution of the aria at a slow to moderate pace. However, he plays most variations at a fast pace. With some variations it’s to fast for my taste. Like with variation 13, which he plays about twice as fast as Hewitt or Schiff does. And that’s too fast imo. There are also some variations which he plays at a nice (slow) tempo, like variations 25. So, a nice version of the Goldberg variations to listen to once in a while. But this is not one of my favourites.

Misplaced Childhood - 24/96
Had problems with my system, been in to be checked by my dealer for a week, turns out to be a problem with my speaker cable, “Audioqest Indego plus” 25 years old, ordered new cable Chord Epic (2 x 6m).
First chance for a week to listen to music, first up this classic album.

Ozric Tentacle - Sliding Gliding Worlds
Because I never like to be too far away from listening to the Ozric's unique style which combines (just to a name a few) space-rock, 60s/70s/80s psychedelia, fuzzed out acid rock and jazz etc. etc.

Good to see you back, Edward.
Great to be back, I was listing to some music with my Sony sound bar, but past most of my time watching “Captain James T Kirk”.
