Brad Mehldau trio - Day is done.

WIth the beatiful interpretation of  'She's is leaving home'  by the Beatles.

I agree, Jeroen. That really is a lovely interpretation of one of the very great Beatles singles.

Followed by the last one which was just released. And I also like it more..

With a main bass guy, so far enjoyable....

You're tempting me again Tony... I really must dust Juicy Lucy off for another listen very, very soon.

Ah Tony! I've missed you posting albums with hideous covers! Any chance of May Blitz or Toe Fat next?

Prompted by Ian earlier, here's of my fave Fabs records, on mono vinyl. The bass on this is pretty awesome...

(1958)

Great John Lee Hooker blues, this is from a wonderful box-set that was well remastered with good SQ and a lovely wide dynamic range (15) . It's a 4 CD 8 album box that I could not recommend highly enough, good for those wanting to get into early blues, or indeed to fill in Hooker gaps. This box is still available down at The River for just over £6 it's almost rude not to!

Good on yer Tony, this was the album that, as just a callow youth turned me on to fruit salad in a big and innovative way.

Manfred Mann's Earth Band - Angel Station

Fine prog rock that takes me back to when I was living and working in Egypt in the late 70's.

Too late to dust Juicy Lucy off, she is covered goo. Messy pup!

I've spent the afternoon with a pressure hose and wire brush cleaning off the patio, which I've not yet finished. It's nice to come in and play this glorious album. So many great musical ideas. Beautifully recorded too.

You're right Nigel I'll just hose her down and wipe her off.

Tidal.    Danielle Nicole - Cry No More

Melody Gardot - Currency Of Man

I have found this is one of the most challenging albums for my system to 'make sense of'. Tonight it is sounding wonderful with nuances I hadn't previously fully appreciated. My mood/state of mind may also have something to do with how receptive I am to this intricate piece of work.

What wonderful, interesting and engrossing music!

Lizz Wright - The Orchard

Just wonderful stuff from an underrated artist. I know I have posted this in the recent past but I keep coming back to it.

One of my best finds, ever. This gets the NigelB coveted 5 smiley face award!

It doesn't get much better than that!

Fink - Hard Believer

via CD player.......   Out and about running errands, returning home and felt like turning up the volume and listening to some of Fink's music and it is sounding mighty fine!

Enjoy it, Eric. Best of British blues rock of the 60's.

(2014)

As far as I know this is the only album that they ever made, what a shame because it's fantastic. A blend of well played  hard rock, blues and psychedelia, this Zurich band had it nailed IMHO... then quit!

You can get a listen to it here on bandcamp, I haven't checked out it out on Tidal.

Superb playing all round, but Grant Green was truly inspired on this album.
