On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Now Playing........
Anouar Brahem - Le Voyage De Sahar
via CD Player........... Something soothing and beautiful this Friday morning to set the mood for the day!
Mary Chapin Carpenter
Sometimes Just The Sky - Qubuz Streaming
Don’t know much about “Mary Chapin Carpenter” but I am really enjoyin this album, reading the reviews on the river I get the impression this is a greatest hit album of sorts, will not be surprised if I buy it.
Edward
Playing this after being reminded of it by Bert on the downloads thread. Possibly my favourite DP album, having been introduced to it by a friend at university.
This mono LP from the box set.
Shaelone > First Tape
Beth Orton - Daybreaker
Wet, grey afternoon on day off. Perfect.
1969 - UK first pressing...
Now Playing.......
Kacey Musgraves - Golden Hour
Streaming on Tidal....... Taking Kacey's new album, released 03/30/18, out for a spin! Sweet voice and sounding mighty fine!
I'm not really a fan of EC, but I've just listened to side one of the Unplugged album on musicassette and decided to give this a spin on vinyl - not sounding so bad.
on vinyl:
1967 - US Mono pressing, Legacy remaster(2013) on 200g vinyl.
Surprisingly full bodied, spacial sound on this remaster.
(1968)
Bobbie Gentry and Glen Campbell doing pleasant ballads together, all of which were (I think) Glen Campbell's singles and or hits, very pleasant.
Haim Ronen posted:
Thank you for the tip Haim! Just ordered on vinyl.
First play for this first disc in this bargain set. Contains two albums, "Burning Hell" (1958) and "I'm John Lee Hooker" (1959); the former acoustic, the latter, electric. Great SQ.
(1967)
Bobbie Gentry - Ode To Billie Joe
And so with that distinctive voice BG introduces herself to the world with this gem and her choice of first track is sung from the throat which gives this a great 'reedy' quality.
Julia Fischer - Bach: Sonatas & Partitas
Wonderful played by Julia Fischer. Also very well recorded (it was recorded in a church) by Pentatone.
Led Zepplin II (1969) - played from NAS via TV media player
I’m following Kevin’s lead with his wonderful new vinyl and CD collection! I’ve never got this to sound anything other than loud and tiring, but ........
Well the 552DR demo goes back tomorrow after 24 days of gradual warm up.......
I think I can hear Robert Plant singing now. There is so much going on with his singing and the rest of the band. The sound effects are amazing. Bring it on!
My son has the CD!
Phil
(1994)
The Hoax - Sounds Like This
Such a good British blues rock band that really know how to do it very well. Unfortunately they have flown under the radar for 25 years!! Great stuff.
SADE.
Phronesis - Umea jazz festival
Smoke City - Flying Away
Playing on Vinyl on Jive Records From 1994 - Superb Acid Jazz - Trip Hop album "Under Water Love " is classic
Tony and Phil digging out some Zep prompted me to do likewise. An antidote to the miserable Good Friday rain.
I found this in my record rack. It's one of my wife's albums, so a quick clean in the Okki Nokki (it wasn't in bad shape at all) and I'm currently enjoying this on vinyl for the first time. Sound very good.
Another disc cleaned on the Okki Nokki this afternoon. Now this IS a masterpiece IMO. BRILLIANT.
