Marvin Gaye - What's Going On
Because it's one of those albums that need a regular airing.
I think this is actually another of the great 1971 albums as per this thread.

IMO one of the very top 50 prog rock albums of the 70s : D
Debs
I think you need to play some Caravan, Camel, Genesis, Yes, Pink Floyd, Gentle Giant, Steve Hillage, King Crimson, Soft Machine etc. and then I'm sure that'll shove ELO down the list a bit!
I do have many of those fine albums you're suggesting, and do enjoy them
but based on just those particular groups alone, ELO - A New World Record is well up there in the top 10
After Mike's reply re Talking Book its prompted me to play some Simply Red and I've gone with A New Flame
Now Playing.......
Art Pepper - Tokyo Debut
via CD Player....... Time for some of Art's saxophone........
Lindsey Webster > Back To Your Heart
Glen Campbell - Southern Nights, His Greatest Hits.
Melody Gardot - My One and Only Thrill - CD
Final one of the evening after Kate Bush (Lionheart) and Leonard Cohen (Recent Songs) on vinyl. MG’s title track sums up how I’m feeling with the 252 demo on the Naim isolation glass, cups and balls standing within my HiFi Racks in the sense of the music sounding so sublime. I only wish I had heard the recently (3 days ago) departed 552 demo boxes this way. Who knows what my beloved 282 might sound like also.
The thing I now appreciate is that the joy of music does not entirely depend on which box in the classic range you have. They are all superb, but your setup can make and break the emotional delivery. These isolation shelves have been transformative couple with some longer legs to make the space to fit them in.

Now Playing.......

Mark Turner: Ballad Session. Classy playing with a good selections of standards and and a top band - Kurt Rosenwinkel on guitar, Kevin Hays on piano, Lary Grenadier on bass, and Brian Blade on drums
JJ Cale & Eric Clapton. The Road To Escondido. On CD from 2006. Bought a month or so ago, second listen. I like the latter tracks better. For me the pace and engagement increase as the album progresses.

Yes I agree, sjb. 1971 was a great year as the OP mentioned and Marvin Gaye with this album was very much part of the vibe. I had pretty much the same vinyl as Allan did with the addition of a few more bands: Barclay James Harvest, Caravan, Curved Air, Family, The Doors and so on... great times for new music and sounds.
1971 such a great year for music and to be born in . "Whats Going on " is such a wonderful song and its message still resonates clearly in this day and age . Its also one of my go to tracks when a demo is needed .
Now Playing........
Tord Gustavsen Trio - Being There
