On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Now Playing........
Yazz Ahmed - La Saboteuse
Yazz Ahmed (trumpet and quarter-tone flugelhorn), Noel Langley (trumpet), Shabaka Hutchings (bass clarinet), Lewis Wright (vibraphone), Naadia Sheriff (Fender Rhodes and Wurlitzer), Samuel Hällkvist (guitar), Dave Manington (bass guitar), Dudley Phillips (bass guitar), Martin France (drums), and Corrina Silvester (percussion).
Streaming on TIDAL.......... Picking up the pace this morning with a little or a lot of trumpet on Tuesday, Jazz is sounding mighty fine on the opening track and especially the 2nd track "Jamil Jamal," enjoying her music quite a bit!
1971 - vinyl (2012) reissue..
Another listen to this rather fine album.????
Sam Cooke 1964 in Harlem , this sounds like it was some night !
(1991)
Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble - The Sky Is Crying
This one is a fine collection of various studio numbers rescued from the 'cutting room floor' after his untimely death in a helicopter crash. Good stuff as ever from the man and his band.
Bruce Springsteen > Darkness on the Edge of Town (24/96)
1970 - vinyl - UK pressing...
Playing On Vinyl on Hi Records 1969 - The Very Reverent Al Green
(1989)
Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble - In Step
Just one album play wasn't enough so on with his last studio release.
1996 - vinyl...
George Thorogood And The Destroyers - Move It On Over.
Just George and the boys doing what they do so well .......... straight ahead bar room blues ........... how sweet it is!
David Sylvian- Secrets.... my fav. album from DS
on order Holger Czukay‘s new box set....
2001 - Vinyl...
(2013)
Puscifer - Donkey Punch The Night
Tool's front man (Maynard James Keenan) with one of his two other side projects, this EP has some interesting covers of Bohemian Rapsody and a few remixes. Meanwhile, we all continue to wait and see if Tool do actually release the much rumoured new album this year. Come on chaps it's been twelve years!
Free - Free At Last. Free - Free.
Still testing the SQ on the NDS, following yesterday's firmware update ................ now with the volume cranked up ................
and these two seem to benefit from being played LOUDLY!
Now playing.......
Brad Mehldau - After Bach
Streaming on TIDAL........ Having seen this mentioned previously I had placed this album in the TIDAL queue and now taking it out for its first spin.
(1971)
Procol Harum - Broken Barricades
This one divided opinion at the time, mainly as to the direction the band might be taking. Me, I think it was an absolute belter. Fine prog rock with the emphasis on rock, IMHO.
Cerys Matthews - Cockahoop
Another CD ripped that I haven't listened to for quite some time.
Rather enjoying this one and particularly the cover version of Weightless Again - The Handsome Family.

It is a belter Steve, you’re spot on. Home was good, but a bit low-key. BB was a striking response - great songs, Trower flexing his muscles, and first rate cowbell!
John Lee Hooker - 8 Classic Album’s disc 2, WAV CD rip
Great early JLH blues. Lovely simple settings, guitar, bass and drums. Hooker could pick like few others, his voice and handling of a lyric were totally compelling. Despite the simplicity of the arrangenements and the slow blues, the rhythm catches you, the singing draws you in, and (heresy I know) your foot will be forced to tap even on a non-Naim system. There’s an energy and power that’s hard to explain. Box set arrived today, originally recommended by Stevee I think, thanks mate, it’s a joy and a bargain to boot.
Continuing the day in a Beatles vein.

Eoin, I'm so pleased you're enjoying this, it is a special set at a silly bargain price I think that it may well have been our very own Mr. Dave Marshall of this parish who first flagged it up and I have been an acolyte of this box set ever since.

In that case, thanks Dave and Steve.
