What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
I think I may have posted this before, but if you enjoy electronic music please give this Gary Numan album a whirl or two - to say it grows on you is a massive understatement and it may turn out to be my favourite electronic album of the last few decades. Can't explain more just love the synth bass lines, vocals and lyrics.
It's good, really bloody good. Possibly his best album as a whole.
Brigitte Fassbaender / Graham Johnson - Schubert Lieder, WAV CD rip
Schubert Lieder around the theme of death, some of the finest songs ever written, immense depth of emotion and sheer beauty, superbly played by Johnson, and Fassbaender is amazing, her phrasing, control, emotion, everything is perfection. Auf Dem Wasser Zu Singen flows and bubbles like water, and is probably one of my Desert Island discs.
Ricinn - Lian
I'm not a big fan of symphonic metal but this album is a great combination of metal, baroque, classical and haunting powerful voice of Laure Le Prunenec.

Good shout Kirill, I think it's terrific.
Dire Straights - On Every Street - CD
One of my favourites from Dire Straights sounding mighty fine.
I added an avatar, which is the emblem of the Confraternity of Saint James, to my profile. I choose this because at the end of September I start my fundraising pilgrimage at Saint-Jean-de-Piedport walking 500 miles approximately to Santiago de Compostela. The funds raised will go towards diagnosis and treatment of urological condititions such as Prostate Cancer. Let me know via my Wall, if you would like to contribute. I will not be alone among members in needing this kind of treatment. Early diagnosis cures PCa.
I have not long finished adding Naim isolation glass and cups to the three brawn side power supplies and under the CDX2. The effect has been to make the notes fuller and deeper. Before I did the CDX2 the same was true but to a lesser extent. Given the CDX2 is really only a digital transport feed to the nDAC/555, it is quite surprising.
The sounds is now like I remember the the demo 252 a week ago when only the brain side had been done. I still have the the 252 I may put it back early next week to see how it sounds. I’m quite amazed at what the racking can do to the presentation of music.
Just to be certain I’m playing Melody Gardot’s My One and Only Thrill. It is sounding better than ever.

In case anyone's interested I'd not realised this performance on an Old Grey Whistle Test special with his 12 year old daughter Persia existed:

Tomasz Stanko New York Quartet - December Avenue
Tomasz Stanko (trumpet), David Virelles (piano), Reuben Rogers (double bass), and Gerald Cleaver (drums).
via CD Player....... Continuing on with an album that has the trumpet taking the lead and I do love Tomasz's music. The opening number, 'Cloud,' is perfect and fits right into my Wednesday evening needs of something smooth.

Warren Zevon. The Wind. On CD from 2003. Warren's brilliant swansong, made knowing it would be his final testament. An upbeat album from the master of darkly ironic songs.
