What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Bernard Herrmann ‘Taxi Driver’.
A masterpiece to match the movie. No fat to trim. For some reason, I associate the main theme with Coltrane’s ‘Naima’.
Some serious jazz-rock fusion, but then this was his first album following his adventures with the Mahavishnu Orchestra. Tommy Bolin on guitar has flourishes rather reminiscent of Allan Holdsworth too.
some superb dinner jazz and electronica lunch tracks from a Sonar Kollektiv comp from 2007.
some nice recipes in the sleeve notes too toot.
Beth Hart - Front And Center (Live From New York)
Blimey! Be bewitched by a bloomin' belter by Beth.
Interestingly, Beth tells us between tracks she was eventually diagnosed as bipolar and sings about it. Good on you gal for facing up to this and doing your bit to dispell the myths and nonsense surrounding mental health.
Now I am goin' fishin' at the big river.
Tomasz Stanko quintet - Soul of things
Nice relaxing music for the Sunday evening.
Don't let the band name and/or title fool you. Well made, timeless and quite reduced pop music
Now Playing......
Richard & Linda Thompson --- Shoot Out The Lights
Streaming on TIDAL....... Enjoy this album quite a bit and as Dave mentioned above the recent firmware update has improved the music.

Gary Numan - Savage.
Glad that you're in the band of happy music lovers approving of the recent firmware update ......... and it was for free! Thanks, Naim.
I recall you having a listen to this one a few days ago .................. might I suggest another listen, post update ............. just, WOW!
Good solo album by Martin Carthy - Playing on Vinyl on Topic Records 1982
A bit of Supertramp before dinner.
George Thorogood - Party Of One.
George's first ever solo outing .............. can it possibly work without The Destroyers on board?
Of course it can ............. rock on George, how sweeeeet it is!

I see from past posts, you like your GT, Dave Me too !!! Don't know his solo stuff though (only with the D's) so may give this a go
A wonderful album, and a cover that makes the view from the Vanguard look more salubrious than it really is.
(2017)
Ese & The Vooduu People - Live At The BBC (cough)
Coming down from the Shjips psyche stuff and on to this lovely live funky rock & soul album, hard to believe that they had only met up and rehearsed together less than a day before they stepped into the Balham Bowls Club! Good stuff fronted by Ese's captivating vocals.

Given that I hope to go there later in the year, you're not really selling it to me, Nigel.

I first saw George and the boys in '82, supporting The Stones, and he blew them off the stage, especially surprising to me, as I'd only
turned up to see Mick & Co.
I've been a fan ever since, and this solo effort won't disappoint.
Bit of Shpongle to give my ‘not even a week old’ new Naim boxes a good workout
(2007)
Younger Brother - The Last Days of Gravity
Simon Posford doing his thing under the guise of Younger Brother. When you boil it down its still Psy-Trance but Simon and Benji add so much more to it all.
Never trust a hippy...
Now Playing.........
Gary Numan - Savage (Songs from a Broken World)
Streaming on TIDAL........ Going with Gary's Savage album at the suggestion of DAVE MARSHALL above....... Dave you are spot on regarding the difference between the before and after 4.6 update, ......and if I can quote you, "just WOW! ....... and it was for free!"

Yes, it's a bit good, innit?

Same here Dave ,was it St James Park or Roundhay Park? I was lucky enough to see both gigs and to date the Stones are still the only band that I have seen twice on the same tour.

I saw them at Roundhay Park, and, as I said, much as I was actually there to see The Stones, I was completely blown away by George and the boys.
Suffice to say, since then, I've seen The Destroyers more times than I've been to see Mick & Co. , no mean feat, considering how seldom they tour UK.
Mind you, I'm off to see The Stones at Old Trafford in a few weeks, shame George wasn't tempted to join them once again.
