On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
(2008)
Calexico - Carried To Dust
Mariachi all present and correct, this is one of my Calexico favourites.
Now Playing.......
Karen Lovely - Still The Rain
Streaming on TIDAL........ Karen has one sweet voice and nice bluesy swing tunes, sweet music!
Æon Trio - Elegy
I recently discovered this beautiful music. It’s a jazz trio consisting of cello, piano and bass. The music is in a mellow style that you’ll also find on the ECM label. The trio plays music of Antônio Carlos Jobim, Atzko Kohashi, Carla Bley, Denny Zeitlin, Gabriel Fauré, Gary McFarland, John Williams and Ornette Coleman.
- Atzko Kohashi Piano
- Maya Fridman Cello
- Frans van de Hoeven Double bass

Enjoyed this one....
(1991)
I sometimes wonder how Chris Isaac would do fronting up some of the slower, quieter Calexico tunes. Pretty good I would imagine. Anyway, slipping him on now as this is almost a natural link to the 'feel' of some Calexico music and my great memories of playing this album alot while kicking around Mexico a couple of decades ago. It's nicely recorded with good SQ and holds very many good memories and yet one very sad one; "Funeral in the rain", for me it's one of those albums that always recaptures a certain period in time.
M People - Bizarre Fruit
Haven't listened to this group for quite some time. But I must say Heather did/does know how to belt out a tune.
Good evening all! Or good morning if you like!
(1968)
Steppenwolf - Steppenwolf
Why? Because its' a fine rock album that has an obvious link to a classic movie and soundtrack but also because its another one of 'those' albums that have hit the half a century mark and still sounds good in that late 60's style.
Very Sad this is coming to Rest The penultimate Blues Program with Paul Jones - Paul's retiring in May
Playing on FM - NAT 01

Still can't quite get into that album. Much give it another try.

Ian, this is indeed bad news I had imagined that he might have carried on for many more years yet.
Melody Gardot - My One And Only Thrill
Ms Gardot manages somehow to be both cool and smouldering at the same time!
Just gorgeous.
Allison Neale is a young British sax player who has made a few excellent albums. This reminds me very much of the West Coast cool jazz of the late 50s. It’s really very fine indeed.
Now Playing.......
Karen Lovely - Fish Outta Water
Streaming on TIDAL......... Karen is sounding quite lovely today, belting out the tunes with great musicians backing her up!

Don’t bother, just go and listen to the real stuff!
As Paul Jones played "Do you read me" on his hour of Rhythm and Blues program on Radio 2.I thought I would give this Rory album a spin, which it comes from. The track "Calling Card" is bloody brilliant one of my top 10 Rory tracks.Playing on Vinyl on Chrysalis Records 1976......top stuff from The Stratmaster
Stuff? Who asked for stuff?

On both counts, Nigel
1974 - UK pressing...
Joe Louis Walker - Blues of the Month Club. My favourite of this very underrated Bluesman’s albums. I’d recommend to try tracks 1,3&4 if sampling.
Mrs AC can't stand the 'wailing' but I thoroughly enjoy:
