On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
A Little Knowledge - Scritti Politti (from ‘Cupid & Psyche’)
When the music matched the vision, a compulsory-purchase album was born. Seminal.

1974 - UK pressing...
Great record, have an original vinyl copy too, first heard it on a mates home recorded c90 cassette with Autobahn on the other side! It’s on Tidal too. Well worth a listen.
Eperdu - Cocteau Twins (from ‘Milk & Kisses’)
Music that voices were made for.
1992 - CD (rip)...
Dream Theater - Metroplois Pt. 2 Scenes from a Memory, WAV CD rip
1st play. Listening to music over the weekend, one of my house guests suggested Dream Theater, listening to this on Tidal impressed enough for me to pick up the original classics boxset from the river. A very clear concept album , excellent musicianship, prog metal I believe they call themselves, sounds right to me. The vocalist impresses me, another fun new find.
White No Sugar - The Clint Boon Experience (from ‘Compact Guide To Pop Music & Space)
Almost as much swagger as the legendary Inspiral Carpets. I said almost...
The Crane Wife 3 - The Decemberists (from ‘The Crane Wife’)
Did they ever better this album-opener? Mind you, that sets the bar quite high...
Fink - Perfect Darkness.
For anyone who hasn't ventured into Fin Grenall's music, don't take my word for it, just listen, and then you will understand.
Menahem Pressler - Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin, WAV CD rip
Works of the deepest profundity in both the Beethoven Op110 and Schubert D960, Pressler drills deep into thei music. Wonderful performances from a master pianist, these two great sonatas come to life, I am deeply moved.

Welcome to the club, you immediately caught their best effort. While many other albums are also good. If you like this - also try Pain of Salvation - with the a Perfect Element Part 1 to start with.

Thanks Bert, I picked up a box set which had Awake, Falling into Infinity, Images and Words and Train of Thought as well as Metropolis, I’ll ad Pain if Salvation to my next shopping cart. I really enjoyed Metropolis Pt. 2, excellent music.

Try also six degrees of inner turbulence, also a very good one. If you are into real rock....
A couple so far this evening starting with Dixie Chicks - Taking the Long Way followed by Wings - At the Speed of Sound .The later a real band affair and probably their best sounding album, the track "Silly Love Songs " takes a lot of flak but McCartney's bass playing is so melodic and driving.

Tigran Hamasyan's works, I had the previlege to saw him solo at La maison symphonique (Montreal), what an artist, great mixt with contemporary jazz-Armenian folk ( decouverte)-electro.
you have to listen : New Era, A Fable, Mockroot and Shadow Theater albums.
SIxun: Nomads' Land. European-African jazz for rythm, skills and musicalities. Great moments.
enjoy...

Totally agree it gets spun often in this household.Have you seen the live version from the Rockshow video ? whilst not as good as the studio take its fun to watch McCartney sing and play those bass runs at the same time.Such a gifted musician in my opinion
Regards
Alan
I think the bass playing on the Rockshow version may be even better than the studio version, and isn't Macca having a blast?

Eoin, yes you're probably right , and I think Macca really comes alive in front of an audience.
