What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Sleaford Mods > Austerity Dogs (16/44.1)
(1969)
Ten Years After - Ssssh
From Beck to Lee, not their best album perhaps but none of them were bad were they?
By strange coincidence I just bought this. First play halfway through and I'm liking it a lot.

Whatever it was, I’m not sure it was clothes they put in there. Two very angry blokes.

I was lucky and saw them play twice in March, enjoy the show!

I have been looking for Cricklewood Green for a while now but its not available on the usual download sites in lossless. When I was looking the other one up just now, I saw on Amazon there is a new remaster of Cricklewood Green out on Friday - its only 8 quid on there for the CD so I will wait for that.

In my view Cricklewood Green is their best album.
1984 - vinyl - UK pressing...
A change of style after listening to Jimi. Must say I've really warmed to this album of Norah's.

A terrific album. Played it very, very many times when it came out.
Yes , part of a fantastic run that started with Tumbleweed Connection through to Capt Fantastic
1st run for me, nice...

MDS, yes this is a cracking album I'll give a play in the morning after breakfast.
Elton John - Greatest Hits, original U.K. vinyl
Following the country covers CD with his early hits, a 1974 GH album. Elton and Bernie wrote a huge number of awesome songs, and Elton really interprets them brilliantly. One of the greatest hits albums where I just enjoy every song and think that greatest is a fair description, pop and rock music of sheer class.

Thanks! Hilary is definitely not looking forward to it, having ‘endured’ Tord Gustavsen last year, but I’m looking forward to it very much.

Let’s hope it’s not been remastered by Steven Wilson!

Ouch!
But then I like Wilson's remastering of some Tull albums.
Steve Winwood - Talking Back to the Night, one of Mr Winwood's do it yourself albums with some great tunes
Joni Mitchell - Hejira, early ‘80s vinyl reissue (£2.99 Nice Price I think)
I replaced the 1990 Hicap with a 1995 Supercap in my 82/135s system today, so just enjoying one of my favourite albums. My favourite Joni, she was on great voice, this is one of her jazz-influenced albums, she had an amazing band, Larry Carlton played some great soft jazz guitar lines, and a few tracks had Jaco Pastorious’s bass almost duetting with Joni. Add the fact that for me this was the album where the poetry of her lyrics reached a peak, poetic lines that I’d happily read in a book made even better by brilliantly sensitive musical arrangements. It finishes with Refuge of the Roads, a song where Joni's poetic brilliance comes together with a great tune and arrangements, add stunning musicianship including Jaco being as great as I’ve ever heard him, if you like jazz/rock with intelligence have a listen.

I have Songs from the Wood and I really like the remastering, but in general I see the point.

I would love to have to 'endure' a Tord Gustavsen performance.
I could see if one is not a Bill Frisell fan he may not float everyone's boat. He is quiet and appears introspective. Both nights he only said a few words at the opening and then him and Thomas performed Small Town, did an encore song and said good night. I loved watching him & Thomas work their instruments, they work really well together and the music was fantastic. In preparation for the evening out, perhaps take Hillary out shopping for a new outfit to wear the night of the show.
Alban Berg Quartet - Beethoven String Quartet Op. 135, Original Vinyl
One of my Desert Island Discs, this is for me the most loved of the late Beethoven Quartets, the musical sophistication and depth of meaning of the others are enhanced by a sense of sheer joy and uplifting The Bergs were resident at the South Bank Centre in London for a long time and I was lucky enough to hear them many times, great technique allied to musicality. This performance of Op. 135 moves me every time, it’s a piece that does offer conflict, but leaves me with a sense of spirituality and joy at the end.
Now playing.......
Patti Smith - Easter
Streaming on TIDAL..... Placed this in the TIDAL queue recently when Patti was getting some play and just now taking her out for a spin....... Enjoy her music.....
