What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are you Experienced - ‘’80s vinyl.
Jimi reinventing rock guitar, but it’s much more than guitar flash. Red House is a classic blues number, Jimi sings the blues and rock, while showing us what an axe can do. Fantastic playing from a rock solid rhythm duo and an all-time great guitarist, great rock/blues the title track is another desert island choice for me.
2007 - Tidal...
Last of the evening was Lee Morgan - The Sidewinder
Now Playing.........
Bill Morrissey & Greg Brown - Friend of Mine
Bill Morrissey (vocals, guitar, slide guitar, harmonica), Greg Brown (vocals, guitar, harmonica), Ed Sheridan (bass, acoustic bass), Richard Gates (bass), and Billy Conway (drums).
Streaming on TIDAL......... Following up with another Bill Morrissey album, I fully enjoyed 'Standing Eight' and I enjoy Greg Brown's albums so it this looked like an easy pick. Here goes......
Now Playing........
Bill Morrissey - Something I Saw or Thought I Saw
Bill Morrissey (vocals, guitar), Kent Allyn (guitar), Johnny Cunningham (violin), Kent Allyn (guitar, piano, keyboards, fretless bass), and Cormac McCarthy (harmonica).
Streaming on TIDAL....... Checking out the Bill Morrissey catalogue. The opening track, "Twenty Third Street," has grabbed my attention, the album is sounding sweet!
Now Playing.......
Bill Morrissey - North
Bill Morrissey (vocals, acoustic guitar, bass, electric bass, acoustic bass), Charlie Jennison (bass, clarinet, bass clarinet, symthesizer), Edward Gerhard (acoustic guitar, national steel guitar, slide guitar)
Streaming on Tidal....... Giving this early Bill Morrissey album a spin, great reviews, and Bill is sounding mighty fine, enjoy his lyrics and music.
Iggy Pop Post Pop Depression
Just finishing.........
Anouar Brahem - Le pas du chat noir
Anouar Brahem (oud), François Couturier (piano), and Jean-Louis Matinier (accordion).
Streaming on NAS........ a little something mellow & pleasant for the last album of the day!
I like how he makes different choices than others in the beginning of his career....
MGMT: Little Dark Age – synthpop pranksters get serious for a change
After two albums of wilfully awkward music seemingly designed to lose them fans, the duo return with some unironically gorgeous melodies and a dash of hallucinogenic weirdness

This seems interesting, is it any good?
It’s pretty good, but not quite as good as the members led me to hope. The bits with vocals are a bit limp. Still, game for letting it grow on me.
Thanks – I’ll give it a go then.

I was lucky and saw them play twice in March, enjoy the show!
Thanks! Hilary is definitely not looking forward to it, having ‘endured’ Tord Gustavsen last year, but I’m looking forward to it very much.
I would love to have to 'endure' a Tord Gustavsen performance.
I could see if one is not a Bill Frisell fan he may not float everyone's boat. He is quiet and appears introspective. Both nights he only said a few words at the opening and then him and Thomas performed Small Town, did an encore song and said good night. I loved watching him & Thomas work their instruments, they work really well together and the music was fantastic. In preparation for the evening out, perhaps take Hillary out shopping for a new outfit to wear the night of the show.
An outfit! Don’t be daft, I’ve already paid the £25 for her ticket!

Allen Gould's first recording and debut album for CBS, revisited and re-recorded here a year before his untimely death in 1982.
Playing on Compact Disc on The Excellant NAXOS Label
Kate Bush - Lionheart - vinyl
Sounding absolutely exquisite.
Phil
Yes - Tormato - vinyl
I got this mint condition copy from the local Canal Trust Shop. Mixed reviews when released but time changes opinions. Really good - what do you think? I probably need to buy plastic sleeves to protect the cover before adding it to the rack.

Phil, your Canal Trust Shop seems to be a great supplier of good old 'previously loved' music, lucky you!
In the post this morning ripped and played a fine album very well recorded
Ornette: To Whom Who Keeps A Record. Outtakes from the classic quartet.

Ten Years After - Ssssh
From Beck to Lee, not their best album perhaps but none of them were bad were they?
I have been looking for Cricklewood Green for a while now but its not available on the usual download sites in lossless. When I was looking the other one up just now, I saw on Amazon there is a new remaster of Cricklewood Green out on Friday - its only 8 quid on there for the CD so I will wait for that.
SJT, this might be worth a punt if you don't have these three albums, one available for £10.50 down at the river.
Playing on Compact Disc on RCA Records 2007 - Great US Indie Southern Rock from Kings of Leon
Now playing........
Dominic Miller & Neil Stacey - New Dawn
Streaming on TIDAL......... A couple of guitars announcing the 'New Dawn' this morning on this cold and dreary morning. A very nice collection of instrumentals to help ease me into the day.........
Now Playing........
Andrew Cyrille Quartet - The Declaration Of Musical Independence
Andrew Cyrille (drums, percussion), Bill Frisell (guitar), Richard Teitelbaum (piano, synthesizer), and Ben Street (bass).
Streaming on NAS............ A beautiful and fun album, love the interplay between the musicians on this album especially between Andrew and Bill on a number of tracks.
