What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:

It’s only been what, 14 years since their previous album? Wonder if I’ll live long enough to see another!
I played this earlier on Tidal Hook, not too bad is it?
Just scrolled back and saw your post Steve. Totally agree - MJK’s voice is still in fine shape! Am really enjoying this album - one finely crafted song after another - and a very good pressing with excellent sound quality.
I just hope some critic doesn’t toss out the old “Tool Lite” chestnut!

Tony playing Curved Air's debut album earlier put them in my head, this was their fine second album.
I love the multi dimensional gatefold on that album, Steve.

Hi Hook, yes I agree this is another fine album from APC they have a different sound to Tool so lets hope we don't get those tired old comments! Allegedly we are going to get a new album from Tool this year so that is something to really look forward to.

I love the gate fold on that album, Steve. It is built like a Rubik's Cube.
Not on my CD it isn't Tony!! But yes you have reminded me what my old original vinyl copy was like

Loud before work. Now waiting on a new Tool album this year too.
What do you think about this one, Spurrier' ?
I would caution against comparing this with Mer de Noms and 13th Step as I consider both great. That said this one is not on par with those but what is. Maynard's vocals standout to me on this album. Just some fine vocals. I'm on my 2nd listen to the full album now. I've listened to the previous released tracks on Tidal over and over. Kind of wish I hadn't. I like it. It will get better with more listens. Happy it's here.
What do you think about it?
Duke Ellington & Count Basie - First Time! , an amazing record as both bands play together and it doesn't sound cluttered.
(1973)
Curved Air - Air Cut
Because a bit more Curved Air is required here tonight.

Enjoyed the article in the Telegraph and I am going to have to try the eight minute 'Weightless' track to see if it can put me sleep, of course that will be later on.......
Nearly 3am Eternal ?
Nice time to really give this collaborative album the ears it deserves.
Now Playing........
Fink - This Is The Thing
Streaming on TIDAL......... I guess it may be a Fink Friday Evening........ He is sounding mighty fine this evening, the wife is out for a bit and the volume is up and starting to feel mighty fine this evening!
Marconi Union is a fabulous group. Their discs are great to listen to late at night. Highly recommended. I have purchased most of them & they reside on my Core. I see too that they are available on Tidal & Spotify.
Continuing the theme. Yes. I do remember that 4/20 was now just yesterday.
Klimek. Music to fall asleep.
A lovely album if you like a nice bit of chilled analogue shimmer.
Beck. Colors. On red vinyl from 2017. Something upbeat and modern to kick off a Friday night. "Dear Life" is so Beatle-esque, right down to the very McCartney-esque lead guitar style. Great track.
ALANP posted:The Doors - Morrison Hotel , on HDCD
Good to see someone else here has discovered the Doors HDCDs. These were originally part of the 1999 Complete Studio Recordings release and were subsequently sold individually. Never identified as HDCD on the packaging, I think they have excellent SQ on a Naim CDP.
Lynyrd Skynyrd. Street Survivors. Original flaming cover release from 1977. The fifth and final album from the original band. A mainstay of listening with friends during my high school years. Parties, campfires, or driving around, this always seemed appropriate music that everyone enjoyed.
Enjoying this just purchased hard-bop offering. Long Tall Dexter is one of my fave "real jazz" artists.
He can do a ballad justice as few can
The Very Best Of Johnny Rivers. On Liberty Records vinyl from 1975. Rivers was a master of covers and made a successful career of it. His lone original song on this compilation "Poor Side Of Town" is very good, but "Secret Agent Man" remains my favorite JR track.

This was used for the same purposes in these parts of the world
