On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:

TDF - Retail Therapy, TDF is an acronym for Totally Disfunct Family and is a group consisting of producer Simon Climie, drum programmer Paul Weller and mysterious guitarist X - Sample who had formally been known as "Slowhand" and "God".This album is very eclectic in style featuring R&B ,ambient vibes. Jungle beats ,flamenco ,drum 'n' bass, acoustic guitar and smooth jazz all topped off with EC's tasteful solos.A precursor to the album Pilgrim

If you like Weightless (1) and are a medic, or first-aider, please don't read this...
I have a problem with Weightless (1) as I find it very alarming...
The casualty has HR of 60, but a 0.7s atrioventricular delay (should be <0.25s), suggesting possibilities of a severe cardiac neuro-transmission problem and/or possible imminent pacemaker failure; so it puts me on heightened awareness, ready to start CPR and thinking "Where's the nearest AED, just in case the casualty goes into VF".
Johnny Hates Jazz - Turn Back the Clock, specifically the title track and "I Don't Want to be a Hero" in their extended mix versions.Certainly the epitomy of late 80s pop with synth drums and bass ,but such clean production and Kim Wilde's backing vocals to the fore in the mix its a guilty pleasure and whats not to like?

Christy Moore - On The Road, just released on vinyl
Christy Moore has been asked for a collection of his most loved songs by new fans, so he’s responded with this 24 song album, selected from 17 gigs over 3 years, some with the band, some Christy with Declan Sinnott on guitar. I’ve been lucky enough to see him many times, with Moving Hearts and the reformed Planxty as well as as Christy Moore, at small gigs and festivals and Fleadhs. This album is like a compilation of those gigs, a fantastic interpreter of songs singing his heart out on some great songs, either in a duo with the master guitarist Declan Sinnott or with Sinnott and a superb band, on a few of the crowd-pleasers he also gets the full audience as chorus and backing vocal. It’s got some sensitive ballads, some politically committed numbers, and his trademark rabble-rousing sing-alongs. 1st play through, I’ve played all 3 albums in one sitting, only pausing after the first disc to ring my sister to tell her to order it. An early entry for my favourite album of 2018.
For people who don’t know the name, Christy is one of the most important contemporary Irish musicians. In the early 70s he was in Planxty who reinvigorated and modernised Irish folk, then in the early ‘80s in Moving Hearts he and the band followed on from Horslips in adding Irish feel to rock. He’s been a solo artist for many years now, either with a small band or in a duo with his great friend the wonderful guitarist Declan Sinnott. He is a fine songwriter of politically committed songs, tender folk-tinged ballads and boisterous singalongs. He is also a sensitive interpreter of other writers’ songs, I think he probably qualifies as an Irish national treasure.

LIndisfarne, Magic in the Air, original U.K. vinyl
One of the great English folk-rock bands, who were a stunning live act, recorded live on their home turf in the North East in 1977. Thanks to [@mention:73230012325576850] for the recommendation, this arrived from discogs today. Great stuff, a top-class live rock act playing up a storm. The tender ballads are beautiful, the sing-along rockers are nailed, yet it still has that authentic feeling of a Lindisfarne gig that it could fall apart at any moment. Great reminder of some amazing gigs I was lucky enough to see.

J to Z on R3. Preservation Hall Jazz Band in session, who played a stonking opener. And there has just been Trace from The Bad Plus.
Programme finishes at 6.30.
Weird thing about R3 imo, I find the voices of the presenters too loud. I have the music at what feels like the right level for me in the room. Then at the end of the track I'm turning it down when the presenter comes on!
1969 - UK - first (mono) pressing...

The Black Angels - Passover
It was a toss up between more Doors or a modern psychedelic rock band that remind me of them, the 60s and the times around the Vietnam War, I went for the latter as I'm in the mood for their harder edged stuff at the mo' after the early Doors.
