Rush. Moving Pictures. On original vinyl from 1981. This one always comes to mind when I ponder my "ultimate album side". Side 1 is Tom Sawyer, Red Barchetta, YYZ, and Limelight. The vinyl SQ is superb with excellent imaging and soundstage.

Good to see someone else here has discovered the Doors HDCDs. These were originally part of the 1999 Complete Studio Recordings release and were subsequently sold individually. Never identified as HDCD on the packaging, I think they have excellent SQ on a Naim CDP.
Joe , I normally keep away from remasters now but the price was too good to turn down .It was a pleasant surprise to see the HDCD being read on the CDP.i also have LA Woman any others to recomend?
Cheers, Alan
Alan, so far I've individually collected Strange Days, The Soft Parade, and LA Woman on HDCD from used CD bins where they sit along side the original CDs for the same price. All very good, key is to look for the 1999 release date. I'm a sucker for the sound of most HDCDs played on my CD5X. Hoping to come across the other three Doors albums on HDCD in time. Cheers!
Robert Plant. The Principle Of Moments. On vinyl from 1983. Tough to point to a best from among Plant's varied solo releases, but this one would get my consideration.
(2013)
Hopkinson Smith's own transcriptions of the first three of Bach's Cello Suites, played on the German theorbo. Smith explains in his notes that the theorbo is "a larger cousin of the lute" with double courses on the bass strings, giving a deep, resonant sound. As ever this is well recorded on the excellent Naïve label.
Been around for a number of years and I think I have only ever seen her albums posted on here once or twice. Due out on 27th. Taster for it below.
Queen. News Of The World. On original vinyl from 1977. Blatantly vampy and commercial rock. Good album nonetheless and there's never any denying Brian May's prowess on the axe.
(2017)
"By far the majority of the lute music from the reign of Elizabeth I (1558-1603) has survived in manuscripts. There are pieces that turn up again and again in different sources, often with variant readings, and there are masterpieces that can be found only once. In general, an English manuscript contains works by various composers, sometimes mixing works from different periods and styles copied by various scribes. The pieces in the current program have been assembled in the same way. Such was the spirit of the Elizabethan Age. As we grow into a repertoire and ingest its language and freedoms, a process of entering the creativity of an age gradually takes place. A fluency develops that leads to many types of extemporisation. This anthology contains four pieces connected with John Dowland and other contemporaries from the generation of lute composers that preceded him." [A short extract from Hopkinson Smith's notes]
The naming of unnamed pieces can be seen as a natural extension of this.' Hopkinson Smith has been praised as one of the masters of repertoire for early plucked instruments and has produced over 25 prize-winning recordings for naïve including his lute arrangements of the Bach solo violin 'Sonatas and Partitas', released in the year 2000, which was called by Gramophone 'the best recording of these works on any instrument'.
Earlier this morning, very fine...
Now some Charles Lloyd...
Great Live double album by Bob Marley - Playing on Vinyl on Island Records - 1978
Angela Hewitt - Faure Piano Music
On vinyl, an RSD exclusive from yesterday. This is absolutely awesome, with the Niki Hoeky/Barefootin' medley a real greasy Southern highlight...
First play of side one of this triple album, which I acquired on Friday...
