On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Music for Summer Evenings - Various Artists
This was a freebie classical CD with BBC Homes & Antiques magazine many years ago.
I really hope that the 3 days of great weather wasn't our 2018 Summer.
Down on scarred knees
This album has had a few posts over the weekend so I thought I would join in. It really is a lovely album.
And again
Now Playing.......
Blue Note Trip Jazznova: Looking' Back/Movin' On
Streaming on TIDAL....... A mention from JEROEN20 earlier had me place this in TIDAL queue and after reading a couple of reviews I am now taking it out for a spin. It is sounding like the next couple of hours are going to be laid back and in the grove for the next couple of hours!
(2017)
This one caught me totally by surprise last year, I have no idea about the remastering but it all sounds wonderful with good DR, great punch and clarity. Playing CD one of two, CD 1 being their A sides and singles, great stuff.
Les Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin II on Japanese SHM CD rip.
Talking of rifftastic, ^ , here's the riffmeister himself, (with a little help from his friends ).
PJ Harvey, Let England Shake. An album I didn’t really appreciate when it first came out but really enjoying revisiting it tonight.
First couple thie evening , Charles and Eddie - Duophonic and then Paul Simon - Stranger to Stranger, which is growing on me

Good to see someone else here has discovered the Doors HDCDs. These were originally part of the 1999 Complete Studio Recordings release and were subsequently sold individually. Never identified as HDCD on the packaging, I think they have excellent SQ on a Naim CDP.
Joe , I normally keep away from remasters now but the price was too good to turn down .It was a pleasant surprise to see the HDCD being read on the CDP.i also have LA Woman any others to recomend?
Cheers, Alan
Alan, so far I've individually collected Strange Days, The Soft Parade, and LA Woman on HDCD from used CD bins where they sit along side the original CDs for the same price. All very good, key is to look for the 1999 release date. I'm a sucker for the sound of most HDCDs played on my CD5X. Hoping to come across the other three Doors albums on HDCD in time. Cheers!
Thanks Joe ,I'll put Strange Days and The Soft Parade on my shopping list
Christy Moore - On The Road, 1st press vinyl (1st release was Friday)
Spent today in the garden and cooking, so just time for a bit of music and I can’t think of a better choice than this, on its second play here. I ranted about loving it yesterday, if you like Christy Moore it’s worth it just for the version of Ride on with Declan Sinnott on Strat, sublime.
Norah Jones - Little Broken Hearts
Jimmy Page & Robert Plant - No Quarter.
Pagey and Percy at their post Zep best, on this re-mastered, (red cover) album. which contains exceptionally good, largely acoustic
re-workings of Zep choons.
I can't recommend this album highly enough ...................... it's a classic, up there with Zep's finest.
Now playing the magnificent Buena Vista Social Club
No playing - Herbie Hancock - Man-Child
Now Playing......
