What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Rubbishy mid 1980s vinyl. For no reason:
Blake Mills - Heigh Ho.
On first outing, a quite challenging album, with so many instrumental layers and textures, but which, on further listening, resolves
into a superb soundscape, with some quite sublime guitar playing and singing.
It's there on Tidal, so have a bash, and do give it more than a cursory first listen, and you'll be rewarded when everything falls
beautifully into place.
Brilliant Debut album by The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band - "Shifting Sands " - "Smell of Incense" are brilliant psychedelia tracks - Playing on Vinyl on Edsel Records 1967
Playing on Vinyl on Pink Dust Records 1986 - Good Solo album by Thirteenth Floor Elevators frontman Roky Erikson

Eric Bibb - Booker's Guitar.
Slipping into a mellow frame of mind before going to see Mr. Bibb this evening.
Enjoy it Dave. He’s really good Live - better than on record IMO. I saw him many years ago at Freight & Salvage, just outside San Francisco. We have tix for his Exeter gig in May too.
Really looking forward to this, especially as it will be in a small, sold out, 200 seater intimate venue, only 30 mins. drive from home.
Will report back tomorrow.
Excellent gig last night at The Pocklington Arts Centre, with Eric and his three piece band in stonking form.
Many old favourites played, together with several songs from the current album, "Migration Blues", and, afterwards, possibly as it was a small venue, Eric and the band only too happy to chat with folks in the foyer.
All in all, a great night out, and if you can get hold of tickets for any of the remaining gigs, (unlikely, as it seems to be sold out most places), I urge you to do so ..................... you're unlikely to be disappointed.
Oh, and the support act, a young chap by the name of Rob Green was hugely entertaining too, and is well worth checking out.
Thanks Dave. Good to hear. The Exeter gig is actually this Sunday, not in May as I thought. Good job I checked prompted by you. Looking forward to it.

Phew!
Now Playing......
Kasey Chambers - Dragonfly
Streaming on TIDAL......... I had placed a couple of Kasey's albums in the queue a few days back and taking Kasey out for a spin this morning. A strong and powerful voice on display on the 2nd track 'Ain't No Little Girl,' looking forward to the rest of the album!
Playing on Vinyl on Drop Out Records 1967
Eric Clapton - Sessions For Robert J.
A much better attempt than the earlier "Me and Mr. Johnson" album, (IMHO), this is an album of "one take, no overdubs".
The accompanying DVD of live sessions isn't half bad too .............. recommended for all blues fans.

Goldfrapp - Black Cherry - CD
A Goldfrapp day. Hearing it now with much more depth and body to the sound. Good job I posted this cover rather than the multimedia one! Great electronic sounds. My son used to help at Glastonbury where Goldfrapp has appeared quite often. His favourite. I have Felt Mountain and Supernature as well.
Phil
Phil,
You must listen to Tales of Us (from 2013) which is up their as one of her best albums.
Steve, Thanks for the recommendation. I haven’t seen that one on the forum much. That said Goldfrapp posts have been quiet of late, and mostly I remember the clown outfit.
Thanks also to Clive and Dave M on Led Zeppelin. Next up Physical Graffiti.

Playing on Vinyl on Mercury Records 1982 - The great JJ Cale - RIP
Nice laid back album...
Stanley Turrentine - Comin' your way.
With Tommy Turrentine (tp), Horace Parlan (p) George Tucker (b), and Al Harewood (d).
Augustus Pablo - Skanking Easy.
A superb 2 X CD collection of Roots Reggae and Dub from the master of deep grooves.
Mary Chapin Carpenter - Songs From The Movie
I read elsewhere that this album has divided MCC fans, probably due to the full orchestration which is a departure from the usual formula on her other offerings. I rather like this.
Mary has a soft voice with delicate tones and textures which could easily get lost with an orchestra in full tilt. However with careful and sympathetic mixing and mastering you get Mary's lovely voice shining through the mix and the excitement of a wonderful orchestra.
Very clever and very enjoyable.
Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak , simply because its my favourite Lizzy album
Kenny Drew trio - At the Brewhoud
- Kenny Drew - Piano
- Niels Henning Orsted Pedersen - Bass
- Alvin Queen - Drums

Excellent Dave.
I rather like his Ital Dub album too!
Lynyrd Skynyrd - One More From The Road , the 25th Anniversdary De Luxe Edition .An expanded version with alternative performances of certain tracks including the encores "Sweet Home Alabama". "Crossroads" and "Freebird"
Alan
(2015)
David Gilmour - Rattle That Lock
It took me a while to get this, I didn't like when it was first released, sounding okay tonight.

Thanks Nigel, I must give this a try as I have always enjoyed her earlier work.
Playing on Compact Disc on Virgin Records 2002- Really good debut album by Interpol
