What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Thrasher - can dive into that song any time...
Just ripped all my 8 John Cale CDs yesterday. Why had I missed out on these for so long? Such a nice listen...
Lord Huron EP 2010 - sounds like Fleet Foxes
Mighty fine, soul inspired country-rock record
Every home should have a Jazz Butcher record :-)
One of my all time fave bands. Never liked this one. But the Steven Wilson BRA edition has changed my mind...
Marcus Bonfanti - What Good Am I To You , modern British blues at its best, the second album from this talented singer, guitarist and songwriter released in 2009.
Nicolas Jaar heading the dancefloor
The cover alone is worth this collection of british music from the 60ies to 70ies transition period. Presented by two thirds of Saint Etienne...
Playing on Compact Disc on Sire Records 1994
Doing a bit of quite tedious work at the moment - maybe some fierce math-jazz from Mr Mahanthappa will help me get through it...

On CD:-
Ryley Walker - Golden Sings That Have Been Sung
From Paris with love

I played this yesterday (after mowing the lawn with Summer’s Cauldron going round my head). It’s a fabulous effort - the much discussed feud between Andy and Todd fueled something special, but then Oranges & Lemons, Apple Venus, Dukes et al were just as wonderful. There aren’t many groups whose output was so consistently high and yet so little heralded.
Just wish Andy and Colin would make up. Not going to happen sadly.
Love this album . Just had it on driving through the West London traffic for which its perfect . I bought this CD after hearing O mio babbino caro played on Classic FM and its been a regular listen ever since , definitely worth a listen .

Feels right for this Spring afternoon, at my desk.

The Big Express was one of my first CDs and therefore my favourite record of them to date (besides English Settlement and Drums And Wires and.,..)
But Skylarking in the corrected polarity version really took me by surprise when the BluRay discs arrived a few weeks ago. May give Mummer another try too....
Del Amitri - Can You Do Me Good? , The Dels' last album which is a bit of a departure from their normal guitar based rock, but still has great songs as ever from Justin Currie.
One for the island in my book
Now Playing.........
Julian Baker - Turn Out The Lights
Streaming on TIDAL....... I enjoy this album, a late 2017 release with some solid lyrics, vocals, and music. It will be interesting to see what the future brings with this 20 year old talented musician.
Dream Theater - Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence - WAV CD rip
A band I was introduced to a couple of weeks ago by a houseguest, this album was a subsequent recommendation from Bert. 1st listen, great stuff, prog metal style, extremely fine technique from all members, and the songs are both varied and excellent.
