Dream Theater - Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence - WAV CD rip
A band I was introduced to a couple of weeks ago by a houseguest, this album was a subsequent recommendation from Bert. 1st listen, great stuff, prog metal style, extremely fine technique from all members, and the songs are both varied and excellent.
Thanks for the reminder Eoin, I really must get some Dream Theater out to play again soon.
Jethro Tull
Aqualung (Steven Wilson Mix) - Qobuz Streaming

CBS vinyl:
Why? Felt like it.

I have been playing a few John McLaughlin albums lately, having just filled a gap in my collection with 'Thieves and Poets'. But this was the first album of his that I was introduced to other than those he'd contributed to under Miles Davis. That was in the early 80s and it remains one of my top 10 or 20 albums ever I guess. The early Mahavavisnu albums were on fire!

A great album Clive, it’s between that and Shakti’s A Handful of Beauty for my favourite non-Miles McLaughlin.
Disc four of this set - the albums Burnin' and Folk Blues, from 1961 and 1962; the former funky, the latter, dirty.

Was playing this and some of his earlier stuff a couple of days back.
Trio Goya, The Heart of Invention (Haydn Piano Trios), WAV CD rip
Another Chandos sale bargain, these are late Haydn Piano trios played on fortepiano and period-style instruments. Fantastic music, all the freedom and fluidity you’d expect from classical-period music, but with scale and sophistication that could be from the later Romantic period. All the trios dance, but repay careful listening as they are brilliantly structured. The Trio Goya bring gusto and class to their playing, really making the music sing. Well spent £2.50.
Think I will join you.
Now playing The Beatles - Yellow Submarine Songtrack , the six tracks from the original album bolstered with the other remaining songs from the soundtrack in a remixed form .
Amadou & Mariam - Welcome to Mali.
Starting off the evening with some Mali magic ................ a mix of the deceptively simple and rhythmically irresistible.
