On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
GoGo Penguin - Man Made Object
Ages since I listened to this and I am reminded what a fine album it is.
Christopher_M posted:I may have peaked too early, how do you follow Fink? I'm having a stab with Peter Green Splinter Group - Destiny Road
It's good but it's not...... top shelf.
Have a bash at the Duke Garwood album I've posted above .............. in a similar vein, (well, sort of), to the Fink album ............. and it's there on yon Tidal thingy, so why not?
Also listening to some of the trax of his new and upcoming album due out June.
(1969)
Fleetwood Mac - Then Play On

Sting - Nothing Like the Sun, a quite introspective second album from Mr Sumner which blends rock and more jazzy playing and is very well recorded and sounds a treat on the system.
Because I'm still luxuriating in the memory of seeing Nerina perform live on Monday of this week.
Accompanying me earlier today on the Tivoli as I was railway modelling were:
Best Of Medicine Head, and
Gerry Mulliigan Meets Johnny Hodges (the CD with the extra album)

The Graduate ,The Original Soundtrack a mix of Dave Cruisin instrumentals and Simon & Garfunkel songs and song fragments where you never seem to get a full version of "Mrs Robinson"
Bruce Springsteen - Born in the USA, WAV CD rip
Damn he’s good, the E Street band is one of the all-time great backing bands, they rock hard, Bruce writes great rock songs and sings them with heart. From the righteous snarl of the title track, to the through the immensely crowd-pleasing Dancing in the Dark, and of course Bobby Jean, an anthem with a great Clemons sax break, through the other great singalong Glory Days which is actually a lyric with a sad theme, to the heartbreaking Downtown Train, an album with a wide range of great songs.
Triggered by the new album, listened to an earlier album...
Brice Springsteen, Born to Run, original U.K. vinyl
It’s quite hard to stop listening to Springsteen., so I didn't. For me this is his album of songs about youth looking to get away or move on in life, great songs with intelligent lyrics on that theme, fantastic tunes and arrangements, as ever Clarence’s sax elevates every song it’s on, Bruce’s singing drags you in. The title track is one of the many examples of how he can write a song with a thoughtful theme that is also a stadium anthem few others could make so compellingly sing-along.
Sound Iration - In Dub.
Signing off with some '80's heavyweight UK dub ................. nighty night.
The Stranglers - No More Heroes, original U.K. vinyl
Punk at its best, they wrote genuinely angry songs, sophisticated lyrics which were aggressively punky while carrying a Zappaesqe cynicism not to be taken at face value, punk drive and playing (yet they had the organ and keyboards), And of course the fantastic title song, written to be a hit single, it succeeded and still remains a superb song.
Van Morrison - Whats Wrong With This Picture?
Now Playing......
Ben Monder - Hydra
Ben Monde: (guitars, bass), Theo Bleckmann (voice), John Patitucci (bass), Skuli Sverrisson (bass), Ted Poor (drums), Gian Slater (voice), and Martha Cluver (voice).
Streaming on TIDAL......... continuing on with exploring the Ben Monder catalogue......
Snow to the north of us, rain to the south and some sweet jazz in no man's land:

T-Bone Burnett. Truth Decay. On original vinyl from 1980. Roots rock delivered with a vintage reverb, hollow-body electric guitar, and tube-amp SQ. Energetic, yet soothing.
Stacey Kent: Breakfast on the morning tram.
Donovan. Barabajagal. On original stereo vinyl from 1969. A whimsical mix of folk, psychedelic, and rock music. I've loved "Atlantis" ever since first hearing it at age 6.
