Also played Genesis, Selling England by the Pound earlier. Amazingly good. Could be my favourite.

Not my favourite, but well done for moving on from ‘And Then There Were Three’!!

Hi Clive, I brought that one over as it can be quite demanding due to lots of powerful instruments. It does have some really good tracks if properly reproduced.

Naim are a bit too busy to let me have the 552 again until mid June. It was promised for last week so I could hear the difference against the 252. I am expecting to be blown away having got the 252 with everything now on isolation glass, cups and ball sounding better that the 552 was without.

Breaking Hearts by ELTON JOHN [2003-05-27)

Elton John - Breaking Hearts , a follow up to the return to form that was Too Low For Zero. Its not bad for '80s Elton but a bit of a retread after the success of its predecessor

This morning: Bruckner's 7 th Symphony, Scottish Symph. Orch, Naxos: sublime! And I usually avoid all Naxos

Posted on: 01 May 2018 by Loki

Now: Thin Lizzy, Thunnder and Lightning, the last and greatest, although Renegade ( last night) is a jolly good second in a 2:1 sort of way. The Sun Goes Down is a forgotten gem. RIP Phil Lynott.

I’m a fan of Naxos, both for their recordings of well known works with lesser known artists, and for their historical pressings. Not all are fine, but there are definitely more gems than not for my taste. The Idil Biret complete Chopin is a particular favourite.

Now playing

Pete Townsend and Ronnie Lane - Rough Mix , a cracking album that sounds very British and is a bit folk rock.Assisted by the likes of Clapton.Entwhistle and Charlie Watts there are great layers of electric and acoustic guitars on most tracks and a delight from start to finish

Enough of that there Led Zeppelin malarkey .................. a repeat viewing of the Strolling Bones at Roundhay Park, Leeds, 1982.

I was there that day, and this surely helps me remember my misspent youth .................... just can't figure where all me' hair went.

  Blimey!

Sean Rowe - The Salesman and the Shark

Sean Rowe - The Salesman and The Shark

Streaming on TIDAL.......   The one great thing about listening to Sean is that there is not one album you won't enjoy. Great songwriter and musician, love his work.

Its no secret that this is one of my all time favourite albums of any genre. I was playing it last night and so again this evening. Some don't like the background hubbub of people talking, glasses clinking etc., but I think it all helps create that 'being there' feeling and atmosphere, so I don't faint it intrusive in the slightest. And who would believe the recording is nearly 57 years old? The sound is better than many modern recordings. Divine music making indeed.

Hi Clive, Pleased to reciprocate after your hospitality. Likely to be the end of June unless I settle for the 252. You can come and listen to the 252 in the meantime.

Should have said, I also have Foxtrot, Nursery Crime and Trespass.

Hope all is well with you.

Why Don't You Try Me Tonight - The Best Of Ry Cooder , does what it says on the tin

Following 'Waltz for Debby' with 'Explorations', which was recorded just five months earlier in the studio. It highlights the interplay between Scott LaFaro on bass and Evans' piano accompanied by the delicate brush work of Paul Motian. I don't play this anywhere near as often as it deserves. That will be rectified!

'Fraid not, Alan, I only got hold of this one, as I was there that day, and anyone who says "nostalgia isn't what it used to be" is wrong!
