What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XIV)

On the eve of a new year, it's time for a new thread.
Last year's thread can be found here:
Augustus Pablo - King Tubby's Meets Rockers Uptown.
Relaxing at the end of a busy, hot, North Yorks. day with this exceptional landmark dub album ............ highly recommended.
Enjoying chilling out to my latest QOBUZ download from Kenny Barron. Very cool. My 10 year old daughter is enjoying this too :-)
John McNeil Quartet - The glass room
- Drums – Mike Hyman
- Electric Bass – Tom Warrington
- Guitar – Bill Bickford
- Trumpet – John McNeil
(1990)
Ozric Tentacles - Pungent Effulgent
One of my all time favourite Ozric albums to (possibly) finish off the evening.
I've got thunder rolling around my listening room
What a magnificent opening to a gig.
Feeling so chilled with another from Kenny Barron. Enjoying with my daughter plus a lovely Glenlivet :-)
Fleetwood Mac, Tango in the Night.
My son heard Little Lies on the radio and wnated a second listen. So we spun the deck.
I haven't listened to this album for ages, and what a lumpen series of juxtaposed tracks it is! No sense of album contiguity whatsoever. How can you put the banal 80s bombast of Mystified after the glorious guitar solo at the end of Tango in the Night? Album filling, methinks. And that guitar solo is so hamfistedly tacked on to the end of the rest of the song as to be almost a separate track. And yet I love Big Love, Seven Wonders and even Caroline's not bad.
Back in the rack for another 7 years, then.
Now, let's spin something worth listening to... it's 1981 and Van Halen are doing the whole Americano Heavy rock Unchained thing. It's Mean Street, and when Push Comes to Shove, you've had Fair Warning! Not a bad track on it, still as fresh as a young Asgaardian can remember. It's enough to crave mortality!
Augustus Pablo - Skanking Easy.
Winding down at the end of a busy day with some more chilled hypnotic dub from the master ................ top notch 2 X CD set.
First album from the Pat Metheny Group. Some great melodies from these very innovative musicians.
